A little help identifying the problem?

Alright, I think I have a virus on my machine, and as I type this, I'm searching for my norton cd. However, the characteristics of whatever this is sound like klez or w32.spybot.worm, but I've already checked my system for both. Whatever's on my machine prevents me from viewing my task manager or edit my registry. Anyone have any idea what this could be?

I had a virus, a win32.aol virus that did that, but I have heard of many viruses preventing access to task manager, regedit, notepad, systedit, and other such devices that are commonly used to remove viruses. However I often find the programmers of these viruses are stupid, leaving some programs open. Try editing you autoexect and your boot sequence, look for a file that is out of place and start looking it up online, might I recommend Here. I would also recommend InoculateIT as a virus scan program, as it picks up on more virus than ANYTHING else, problem is they discontinued the project, so I don’t know where to get it anymore...

I heard InoculateIT became e-Trust Easy Antivirus. Anyway, thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

I ran Panda's online scanner, detected and eliminated W32.Spybot and MSBlaster.

You still had MSBlaster? Might want to do security upgrade or you'll get it again.

It wasn't a matter of still having it, it was a matter of me just recently connecting this machine to the internet. All it fixed and cured now.
