North Korea does a thing: 2013 edition.

I'm not an America apologist or anything. It's not like we're the only country to have actually successfully performed a mass genocide.

Well it's a Korean supremacist dictatorship so it has more than a few things in common. NK dresses up like an old-school Communist dictatorship but is more of an ideological descendant of the previous Japanese administration.
2013-02-21, 2:24 AM #45
No Recusant it's totally different. For example, Adolf Hitler was a popular and democratically elected leader, while on the other hand the Kims are unelected despots who maintain power with bribes and luxuries obtained directly from drug smuggling and human trafficking.
2013-02-21, 2:28 AM #46
But the same could be said of America!!

I have reason to believe NK developed their rockets in Kerbal space program.

Is this new? Did I miss this or did this just happen? That just happened.

" The United Nations Security Council approved a new regimen of sanctions on Thursday against North Korea for its underground nuclear test last month, imposing penalties on North Korean banking, travel and trade in a unanimous vote that reflected the country’s increased international isolation.
...
The resolution, which was drafted by the United States and China, was passed 15-0 in a speedy vote hours after North Korea threatened for the first time to launch a pre-emptive nuclear strike against the United States and South Korea."

They tore up the armistice agreement and cut the hotline to south korea.
2013-03-07, 8:32 PM #52
It sounds like NK is trying the old tactic of "Act out a lot, and the go to the negotiation table to ask for more aid." Looks like that might not be going to well for them this time. The Nuke thing may have crossed a line.
2013-03-07, 9:51 PM #53
Also directly stating that their missile program wasn't peaceful, that they are making more specifically to launch at the US/Japan/Whoever, and tearing up the armistice. I think they got themselves stuck in a cycle of escalation, except nobody else is listening.
2013-03-09, 11:38 AM #54
yeah... i got to watch this on the news at 5:00 in the morning in a room full of people going into the army/marines/navy... that was interesting.
Hopefully this IS just blustering... cant really imagine they have the capability of pulling something like a preemptive nuke strike off.

also fastgamerr... that is probably the BEST comic strip i have ever seen!

Oh they obviously have the capability to fire a nuke. The problem is, they can't get it to the USA. So they'd probably just trash South Korea.
2013-03-09, 2:43 PM #56
Even if they do have like, a single ICBM stored away somewhere, I'm sure the US has the capability to swat it out of the sky, Japan too probably.

Unless by 'fire' you mean 'heave onto a flatbed truck with a crane and drive to the target', no, they really don't.

Fire out of a 1950s piece of artillery.

I'm sure they could manage to launch something across the border, even if it's not well aimed. Hell, they could probably just fly it over, kamikaze style, and drop it wherever South Korea shoots it down.

Launch a dozen 1950s scuds full of chemicals, one of which has a nuke with some sort of wacky failsafe deadmans switch if it gets shot down.

We're all going to die.

I wish some people hadn't felt such an intense urge to hasten the process.

Indeed, it doesn't seem to be working that well this time around. And the South has ramped up its' rhetoric against the North as well. Granted this happens quite often (and we even saw the North shell a Southern military installation recently-ish). I don't think we need to be assuming war will happen at this point as some commentators keep suggesting.

Starfish Prime was the worst autobot leader after Rodimus Prime.

-Anyways, that North Korea's real crazy, huh?
