Router recommendations

I'm moving to a new place in a little over a month, and one of the items I'll need to purchase immediately is a router for both my computer and wireless devices (ex. consoles). My internet connection will be cable (the joys of Comcast, for those familiar with the provider). I'll be living in a 3-floor (basement included) rowhouse. The router will be in the basement as the majority of the devices that would need it will be there, and want a clear wireless signal throughout the house (which may require signal boosters or the like for the top floor - I haven't tested yet). Price is not really much an issue if there's a significant increase in reliability or the like. I do not currently have any servers I need to support. Let me know if there's any other details that would make a difference.

So, for Massassi, I'd like to know if there's any brand names, particular spec details, etc. that I should steer towards or away from.

I've never had a problem with Netgear routers. Mine have always been N spectrum, dual-band. And since you're already aware of the possibility that you'll need a second access point, what I did at my parent's was run 100ft of CAT5 to a WAP with the same wireless settings as the router, so you could go from one end of the house to the other and it would auto-switch antennas (so a small-scale of how RIT, etc does it).

To my knowledge this (or really, the next newer model the RT-AC66U) will have the best range. Don't cheap out, cheap wireless routers are slow and there's data to show it.

I guess it's okay if you only need a router once or twice a year.

Have not a need for more than that.

Used it once to cut space for a sink in a blank counter top.

Backing up Emon's recommendation. Asus has basically replaced Linksys in reliable routers these days.

Sounds like you should have bought a black and decker jigsaw instead.
