Episode VII to limit cheap CGI tricks and keep it real

Is it confirmed they going to bring back actors from the original films? If so, how is the movies' plot going to incorporate Carrie Fisher's weight gain?

No idea how up-to-date that article is, though. Personally, I'm sort of glad that they're not going with the Thrawn trilogy (even though there was never really a chance for that to happen tbh) so they'd be able to invoke some creativity but... eh, like GBK's Hysteria I think I'll wait until I've seen that film in the theatres until judging it any further.*

One thing that is good is that the producers of Episode 7 know exactly why fans reacted badly to the prequels so hopefully they'll make an effort to address that. Keep in mind that it's in their interest to make a good movie because then they'll be able to keep making them. Of course, after they've made 3 they'll become crap again but let's hope for a few decent movies out of it!

I do hope that they keep the Star Wars visual style with all the silly scene transitions and don't go with Abrams shaky-cam on everything.
nope.

That's a really interesting point. How much freedom does a new director have when he kinda has to do things like all the silly scene wipe transitions etc...

Ehh SW fans will eat the movies up anyway. If they follow the 'Save the Cat' formula, the movies can't fail at the box office.

That's a good point. I hope new Star Wars doesn't get a new look like new Star Trek.

Other than Yoda, I didn't have many issues with the quality of CGI in Star Wars I thur III. But there were a few scenes where so much CGI was employed and so much in motion that my eyes didn't know what they should be focused on. I have similar feelings about the new Transformer movies- I much prefer the older cartoon animation that feature a only a few moving parts during the transformations. The new 'transformations' are like a billion parts moving at once and the effect is more like water flowing than a machine abruptly changing form.

She isn't really fat anymore. Now she just looks like a 56 year old actress who did enough cocaine to kill a small horse.

I would imagine the story would center around the original trilogy main character's kids, eg., Jacen Solo (Darth Caedus). But that's only speculation, of course.

yeah well i would imagine the story will centre around the vaguely homoerotic relationship between r2d2 and c3p0

Pretty sure her voice is gone because she ruined her nasal resonance with cocaine. Not sure how they're gonna fix that.

They should 'fix it' by not putting those ****ing actors in these movies. Oh godddddddd.

Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill are probably good choices still

Just film it in England again and cast a bunch of Brits as imperial officers and we'll be golden.

I have no idea why anyone assumes it will be even remotely related to the EU.
>>untie shoes
2013-07-31, 7:02 PM #63
I hope it isn't. I mean, some of those stories are great, but the best EU stories by far are the ones that have no or very little involvement with the main characters from the films.
2013-07-31, 9:06 PM #64
Thrawn was cool, but the EU definitely deserves to be fully ignored at this point. They turned the movie characters' "happily ever after" into a horrible life of warfare where most of their friends and family die. That's not cool.
2013-07-31, 9:22 PM #65
+1

Even though I have no expectations whatsoever for this, I hope they completely ignore the EU.

It would be great though if they included some locations, especially Nar Shaddaa. (As long as they don't ruin it) But as far as stories and characters go, they can steamroll everything IMO.

Well I thought that the deal was that Lucasfilm/arts/whatever don't consider the EU canon whatsoever?

Terence Stamp didn't get along with Lucas at all. So much that he decided he didn't want to be a part of the films after TPM.

Quote:
"We didn't get on at all", Stamp told Empire (via Den of Geek). "I didn't rate him that much as a director, really. I didn't feel he was a director of actors, he was more interested in stuff and effects [...] He didn't interest me and I wouldn't think I interested him.

Does anyone rate Lucas as a director? Direction-wise, even ANH is the worst of the OT.
nope.

I want a world where old school British badasses like Terrence Stamp, Charles Dance, and Liam Cunningham go around just ragging on anyone they don't enjoy working with...

Wait...
