I'm getting a new computer, thanks to some fancy footwork and usage of HardOCP forums, I'm getting the following system:

AMD Athlon XP 1800+ 1.53 GHz Thoroughbred (Uncle says he can overclock it to 2.2 GHz, which puts it at about 2600+)

BIOSTAR NForce2 400 Chipset Motherboard, AMD Socket A CPU, Model M7NCD

2 sticks of Crucial PC2100 DDRRAM @ 256MB each

new ATX case, nothing fancy

Maxtor 40 GB 7200 RPM HDD

CDRW 52x32x52

Obviously the only thing I need is a video card, and I'll just use my old one till I can buy a new one, or a good budget one. Just thought I'd share with you all .

Nice, but I'd get 512 MB sticks of RAM. What about video and sound? A bigger hard drive wouldn't hurt either.

If he overclocks it that much, he'll fry the chip. That is, unless he gets a watercooling system, in that case, you are better off saving the money and getting a better chip off the mark. Like, at least a 2500, since that incorporates the faster Barton CPU.

Yea, the best deal around right now is either the 2500+ or the 2600+...and there's no wayu you can overclock that much.

Get an ATI. Also, I feel obligated to say, "ALL CAPS TITOOL!"
