120,828 words, 320 pages. Now it's time to go over it, make note of what needs to be fixed, and then re-write the whole thing into something presentable.
It's far from over but goddamn, I did it. :eng101:

Post life accomplishments itt.

Hey thanks for bringing that up, Koobie. You're doing a great job of making sure this stays on topic.

Good job, Tibby. An impressive accomplishment regardless of quality. Hopefully it either is good, or tuns into something good.

Any time, Antony, glad I could be of service!
Mmm... Longest continuous thing I ever wrote was 15k words and it was a bloody mess, so yeah, 120k is a lot.

Congrats Tibby. Hope it goes somewhere. Can't wait to see it in the half-price resale stores! And goodluck on the editing/rewriting. Lord don't even know what the process does to the mind.

Thank you for the kind words, also I'll be lucky if this is ever out on print and not just 99c on the kindle store or w/e.

I used to work with the guy who wrote that. There's no way Tibby's novel could be worse.

I got my first internship offer of my third year this morning. That's an accomplishment I guess, but not really life-long.
I had a blog. It sucked.

in other crazy news, i've started writing a mega-fan fic of doom and will post in parts on G+ in november. who can it be? Sherlock Holmes? Dr. Who? A T-Rex?
A Dr. Who - Sherlock Holmes story that gives both characters a "plausible" excuse to visit the worlds of Battle Tech & Star Wars?
WHO KNOWS! it even has correct capitalization & everything.

I've had a blast writing that Fallout story. I think it's one of the best stories I ever wrote; thriller-action wise, at least. The reason why most professional writers don't write fan fiction is because they're busy writing things that sell and make them a living (and those who do, write it under contract). Since I'm in no position to be making a living from my writing, I want to write one more!

hey, achievement. keeping the thread alive, all that jazz. you can read it here: http://tyrovogel.com/a-game-of-chess/

Haha, i first read "post life accomplishments itt" and immediately thought, wait did tibby die in the process of finishing his novel.

I donno, done some really cool stuff, dont know if they would really count as "life accomplishments" I guess... played drums on (soon to be) 2 full length albums, went on tour with said band. went on a "tree planting extravaganza" in Africa, joined the navy... although that was more of a questionable decision. FINALLY finished a JK level, what, 12 years after people stopped playing it.

Fan fiction is a great asset to the world. Especially Doom fan fic because then John was a zombie.

Why don't we start from the beginning... There'd never be Doom if not for Commander Keen!

Congrats, Tibby...

And might I add that I am insanely jealous. I've been working on mine for some time. Unfortunately with the 60+ weekly hours at work, and all the wedding plans, I haven't had the time.

However, I must add... Don't redraft it too much. Literary agents don't want a "Finalized" script. Nor do Publishers or the editors in their employ. They want a proof that they can work with and alter. Because it will change.

When you submit a complete yet unpolished draft, it better shows what you are capable of as a writer and what faults you may have that they can help you with. When you "Finalize" it, writers tend to be unwilling to change (as mentioned before, it will change) it again. Even if there are fatal flaws that went unseen before.

If you're looking to get it published. Just give it a once-over in its current state. Then find yourself a lit-agent suited to your genre. There are a boatload posted online for free or just go to the local library or bookstore. Come up with a good request letter that explains everything as simply as possible. After that, find about five more and repeat. Then send them all out, prepare for a lot of rejection and criticism... and get your next set of lit-agents ready. Repeat til you get desired results...

Em, Jon'C's the resident Writing SME now, but I'll chip in anyway.
I think that if you submit anything anywhere, it should be as finalized, ready, and polished as it possibly can.
Over & out.
