I really don't mind, considering Battlefield and Call of Duty's single player feels tacked on and ancillary (not necessarily poorly made, or effortless though), to me. These multiplayer shooters should focus on what they are really and not worry about single player narrative, but instead the kinds of stories I'm going to tell about the game. That said, am I the only one who really likes persistent worlds in shooters (Planetside, or TF2's soldier vs demoman event for example) that give more weight and story to each battle? I like games in games now adays, such as the more short-term investment of gun-game in shooters. I've always preferred CTF over deathmatch because of the narrative that develops in the one.
