It was originally planned afaik. The DirectX thing isn't half as big a problem as RenderDroid, which was hand-written x86 assembly. They would have had to rewrite the renderer either way.

those hud graphics are higher-res than JK's. not sure why the mac could render the game at 4x the screen resolution but didn't have the power to blit the hud over the gameplay, but there you go

Al MacDonald also used to be the JK/MotS skin maker. His skin-packs (Final Force was the most recent one and available on his former site at http://3do.jediknight.net which is now defunct... ) are legendary if you've played JK/MotS SP levels from the classic era like mad.
