I'm starting to wish for something similar, except replace 'opening this thread' with 'starting this thread.'

The point of this game is exactly the basic terms Reid stated; focus on a fun insight into what people consider the most important to them while trying to avoid at least some of the more obvious wishes as well as avoid the rules lawyering that often comes up with these sort of things. This thread at least shows me that it's a good thing genies don't exist.

Are you counting things that, for argument's sake, would be 100% or 0% probable? If so, I'd argue that's the same as wishing to be a genie/god/someone with infinite wishes, since you could literally make anything happen then. If you're not counting the impossible probabilities, then that seems to be the equivalent of "I wish to be the most powerful sorcerer ever" which, while a boring answer, would at least be a valid answer.

I was asking if you were keeping the intent with your post, and why I felt you may have not been, not find some loophole/technicality. "Wish to control probabilities" sounded like a loophole to gain the first wish to me. You're free to disagree with my assessment, which I assume you did.

i'm not going to get too philosophical but there's not really a point in getting pedantic over language games such as these. reductionism to the point of obscurity falls outside of the limits of the game. if this were chess, jon`c would be disputing that the names of the pieces are not befitting and i'd be talking nonsense to the wall about the metaphysics of social interaction

really though, how do you interpret what someone's goal is? in words we have some ideas, some metaphysics about goals, but the very way you phrase the question includes an epistemology. the point of the game is to induce and test people's cleverness, or in more basic terms to learn a bit about them.

i wish instead that i didn't waste time thinking about things like this.

Stop being normal.

Are you sure you don't mean you'd wish to unthread this?

Unless you specifically wished for this thread before it was created, and want to take it back.

Your ignorance of events from the previous temporal loop is understandable.
