So Bill Nye talked about this possibility in a YouTube video that I saw. We know Mars has water and collided with an asteroid like 3 billion years ago, propelling stuff out into space. There are rocks of Martian origin here on Earth.

I think Bill Nye presented it as a curious possibility that is plausible but not that likely.

Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

Some recent evidence has indicated that life sprang up on Earth very shortly after it formed.
