Every Assassin's Creed game [except AC4] for $15? Seems like a good deal, but I dunno if these games are good on PC or if maybe some of them really sucked.

It does require UPlay, but I actually have it installed already (don't judge me).

I played the first one once on 360 and all I remember is jumping on a building and riding a horse and something about a cart full of hay. But I think I liked it.

A few month ago Ubisoft was giving out the third game for free. It was the first Assassin's Creed game I ever played and is supposedly the worst of them all, so the others might be better. But I think my main gripes would be present in the other games as well.
He does some cool moves when I press some buttons but I feel like I don't really have control over what he does. Jumps are more or less automatic and always succeed and combat is just mashing buttons to see some martial arts moves that seem to do the trick.
The story seems to be your typical complicated fantasy/mysterie mess. I might be involved more if I had played the first games. But I can't really connect with a guy whose solution to every problem is murder. Don't get me wrong, I like playing bad guys. I can't play Jedi Knight or KOTOR and stay on the light side. But in the first hours of playing this guy told several people (who should be allys) that he'd simply kill them if they stepped out of line again. That gets boring after a while.
Sorry for the lousy German

Yeah get em there's at least $15 of value there. I'd say Sid Meier's Assassin's Creed 4 is worth that, alone, but maybe I just have a soft spot for sea shanties and Caribbean scenery like every other sucker.

That's the only Assassin's Creed game I've ever played though, so...

Maybe. We played one or two of them but got stuck/bored at the later levels. We were supposed to kill some guys but it got impossible in a crowd. We'd always just get killed. Finally just gave up. For a while, scaling buildings and exploring the town was pretty cool. Then it got lame :( (But this was on xbox or something.)

Looks like AC4 isn't included, though D:

Assassin's Creed 2 was really cool IMO. I liked AC Brotherhood too.

One of my biggest gripes with the ones that I played was that it was basically "hold x to scale building" instead of you controlling the jumps.

Also that the combat and horse were dog****.
nope.

The trick to the combat (at least for the first few in the series - I haven't played anything beyond Revelations) is to stick to counter attacks.

Yeah, I'd say 2 and Brotherhood are worth the price all on their own. They're in that sweet spot of the mechanics being pretty refined, but before all the bloat they started cramming in to justify sequels after that point.

Agreed, those are probably the best two, and worth the price. The rest is just bonus.

Oh, by the way!

Which is the one that has those really awesome puzzles?

Some of them were really hard. It felt pretty good beating those without looking them up on the internet. Some of the best puzzles I've seen in a game.

Was that AC2? Where you had to find these hidden sigils on buildings, and when you found them you had to solve a puzzle to unlock a memory?

I thought that was really well done.

I'm fairly sure that was 2, which was genuinely really fun.
nope.
