JEDI KNIGHT ARENA Pack Competition Results [w/ Screenshots]

The final JKARENA level pack will be comprised of ten levels. As you know JKArena is a new gametype for the original Jedi Knight that is reminiscent of Rocket Arena for Q3. Weapons can be chosen for the matches and players can enter and exit the queue, and these settings persist over levels in a pack, meaning a host can set it up and leave the queue and alt+tab out and essentially have a dedicated server.

Anyway, the pack competition is over and the download will probably be available sometime today.

The JKArena project is supported by Massassi and it has not yet been decided whether there will be a seperate category in the downloads section for JKArena levels yet, so I would advise you all to hold off on submitting your levels if your level was not chosen for the pack.

You can fix that with some port mapping. Juz` Also has a router and we managed some way around it. Jedi Knight uses DirectPlay from like DX6 or something, and the ports are like 2300-2400 or something. I'll have to check to be sure, but the ports might be in your router manual (thats where we found them for Juz`).

You *ought* to be reinstalling. JKArena is a ton of fun. It's been in progress since 2001 after all, with alot of tweaking. This has got to be one of the only released big projects in JK history :P

But hey, we didn't have a website until earlier this month so maybe that explains it.

I beta tested one of these levels and despite the fact that I did horrible, I had alot of fun.

I'll be reinstalling it... It was uninstalled because we wiped the hard drive on thsi machine.


Anyways... amazing stuff. Even the ones we haven't seen before.

Why are all the levels so small? I'm assuming it has something to do with the gameplay style. Could someone describe the gameplay to me? I have never played Rocket Arena for Q3.

I think the staff should consider adding back to the site that old JK game finding system page we had a long time ago (I forget the name) to complement the release of JKArena.

JK only uses about 10 ports in that range... Cavey has a list of them somewhere. Ask him.

I really am suprised JK has lasted so long. I've seen other games last the same way, like Thief and System Shock 2. They've both got some fan made sequels/expansions, and a small albeit good community, but I don't think I've seen a 3-4 year old game flourish like JK did in 2000-2001.
