It seems like the dream of an expanded Star Wars cinematic universe would be where there's not so much tone control from the studio, where Lord/Miller can
do the weird stuff they want, where Disney hires Rian Johnson and lets him make a more Brothers Bloom-y or Brick-y movie, where they do what Disney did w/ The Prisoner of Azkaban (though w/ original scripts, of course). I want to see Shane Carruth's Star Wars spinoff
(though perhaps he wouldn't be interested in that). Anyway, this was never going to happen, I guess.
Things are fine enough as they are, but I'm definitely transitioning into feeling about Star Wars movies how I started to feel about Marvel movies a couple years ago. Yeah, they're competently made, even good, but seeming increasingly rote.
