new video card...

Well, I have decided that soemtime either in the near future or after or during colledge i want to give my computer a little upgrade.

It's a fairly recent buy, still a nice computer, but the video card is not the greatest, its the factory model card that was installed when i bought the computer.

So what i wanna do is buy a new vidoe card for my computer, But i'm not a super computer geek... i turn it on and play games, edit a few levels and work on some animation and modeling

So, my question, What Kind or brand of video card out there is the best and can i get it for under $200 canadian?

I may also upgrade some ram and memory, got 256 ram and about 36 gigs of HD space, maye up the HD to 80 or so, but thats not a big concern for me, I would like to run games like JA, JO and even older games at their top settings, not the medium and i think a new graphics card is the way to go.

If need be i will post my system specs, but as i said i'm not a big computer geek so i'd have to be told where to find this paticular info...

Just yesterday I bought me a nice new video card for my computer. A GeForce 4 or something like that. I'm not exactly a technological marvel myself, though I did manage to get installed and mostly working all by myself. It's only 64 megs, but I got it for around 130 or so Canadian.

Compusmart's Website has prices in Canadian. According to my research, either nVidia GeForce or ATI Radeon are the best brands -- someone with more expertise than I is bound to know more, though.

Radeon 9600 Pro for all your budget gaming needs. About $100 US right now. Great deal.
