Yeah so here how the story goes.

Im sitting on my nice chair doing some chatting and then I heard some noise from my computer. It was like a sound of something falling. Immediately after that, my screen stop refreshing itself and had a black haze slowly overtaking my screen. So I turned off my comp quick time, flipped the switch and pulled the power cord and looked through the side of my case. And from there I saw half my heatsink dangling in the air from my Gigabyte Radeon 9800 pro.

It turned out that of the two plastic spring clips fell off...

I re-assmebled it ofcourse, but got huge amounts of artifacts... Its partially fried from such a stupid cause. If you got similar stories, share them =]

The fan fell out of my Geforce 4. It still works fine though. I've been trying to contact the manufacturer, Gainward, about the warranty via email.. but I may have to just call them long distance about it (I ordered it online. The place is in California or something, while I live in Wisconsin.)

I dropped my card into a deepfryer. I felt bad, but I'm sure the guy who ate it thinking it was a hashbrown felt even worse.

After 3y of beautiful operation with my last video card one day my monitor just wouldn't turn on anymore.. so i opened up the case and threw a live goldfish into the bowl attached a leech to the gerbile, sacrificed a chicken and dripped the blood onto the wood chips.. and voila..

A few days ago, my monitor had been flickering, and I knew it didn't have much time left.
I turned on my webcam and Dormouse started watching... within a few seconds, perhaps triggered when I bumped something while grabbing the camera, the monitor went black and make a popping noise. Dormouse got to watch me replace the monitor.

One of my video cards just decided to commit suicide once. One of my computers did the same. And one time for some reason Windows 95 started to look for NT files. Computers are just problems waiting to happen. If they weren't, you'd have no reason to buy new ones.

I took an older sound card to place in a tiny little case, just to get some sound out of the box, as like, an mp3 server-ish thingie...just an experiment. So, I had to cut the card a TINY bit on the edge to make it fit. I ran sound on it for 3 years. Then...one day... I touched the case, and got a HUGE shock. I unplugged it, and waited a while, and it still shocked me. I waited longer, I used rubber gloves and opened the case.

HUGE BLACK STREAKS OF CARBON along the side of the case touching the card. No smoke? It is a mystery.....

Shouldn't you have some kind of warranty for something like that? Im pretty sure my card had a 3 year warranty on it and if something like that happend to mine, id sure as hell be sending it in for repairs/replacement.
