Correction, I'm on your side. Clients need to be just as understanding and willing to make sacrifices as the business. If that woman who had been waiting had exploded and went on a hissy fit and left, GOOD. You don't need those kind of people in your business. Working in retail you realize this to a much greater degree. Putting up with some people's **** is not worth it just for their business.

That I stop with the insults and flaming? I can't help but feel like I'm being attacked, here, and it's simple human nature for one to defend oneself. What, did someone whine in the chat about me, kak? That seems like something you do... post when people ask you to.

Damnit, I'm tired of being me.

Correction, never argue with your mom. You will not change her mind. She was not acting that way because of logic or reason. She was acting that way because of stress. Arguments can not win against stress. I have learned that arguing with a parent only makes them more angry. It's wiser to apologize and to keep silent.

Ok....So you know what the problem is, why post it on a forum? Just talk to her about it.

Flinging insults is not a valid defense, especially not on these forums.

Running a business out of home is very difficult...especially because others have a tendency to not take it as seriously as a normal business. My mum runs a business out of home and I've seen friends and family just fail to realise what a serious venture it is.

What your mum is doing is just simple customer service. Whilst it's unfair for a client to get pissy if they get there early and leave, if they do get there early I see it as just good business to let them in, etc. It makes them want to come back when treated in such a way...and let's face it massage is a luxury service so that's important.

Calling Ubuu's statements stupid don't help your argument. He makes valid points. You need to learn to respect that. Perhaps your inability to respect opposing sides is why you have problems with your mother?

Look, if someone makes a stupid comment clearly directed toward me, I'm not going to put up with it. There's no reason why I should.

Like I said before, though, her clients aren't unreasonable people. There won't be a confliction if she'd just say something... the only problem is her FEAR that there will be a problem.

Ubuu's comments WERE stupid. He makes invalid points (that's when he actually makes points at all) that don't address the focus of discussion at all.

I would also like to point out to many of you that this disagreement with my mom isn't as bad as I think you're sensing. We're not like screaming and yelling at eachother... actually, just now, she was showing me something her friend e-mailed her and we were laughing at it because it was funny. My only hostility in this situation is toward the complete morons who think they can do good by chewing me out as if they're my father.

Wow, interesting story. On a related note, my school is just as screwed up. In November, I had switched my period 5 class from one elective to another for this semester which I just started now. Everything was fine and dandy, until my schedule came to me yesterday (first day back) and it still had the wrong elective.

I go to complain yesterday, and they say just go to whatever class is on their and we'll work it out starting Monday, because their fixing seniors' schedules all this week. I go back today, to make an appointment to see my guidance conselor to fix this up, and the rude secretary keeps telling me I'm wasting my time because they don't change electives, while I keep saying they do, because I just did it in November!

In conclusion, school secretaries = rude, cold, and arrogant.

our secetaries are just as bad... they dont let you use the services they provide during lesson times (i'm at a sixth form, so a lot of the time, i have free periods when all the youngsters are in lesson) and they insist i return at breaktime when its busy and full of screaming kids.

they also talk to you in a nasty, bitter, arrogant mannor, and they have unfiltered internet, i bet they spend all day looking at porn and laughing at us.

I understand what you are saying Correction, and it is good you suggest things to your mom, and you have the right to tell her not to ***** to you when something with her business goes wrong, but in the end, it is HER business. The final word is hers.

I'm glad you have a good relationship with your mom because otherwise my reaction to this thread was you in this thread was going to be completely different, you mom being a single working mother and all.

Ubuu was being an ***hole, yes. And you've probably had a stressful past couple hours, but that is still no excuse for being a brat. Especially in the parts below:

What Zuljin has said
Quote:
You know, instead of complaining you could maybe, I don't know, do something about it? How old are you? You could get your license probably. You could get a job. You could try to help pay the bills.

You insulted him after this post.

Quote:
Nowhere in my post did I say that you had a car. I suggested that maybe you GET one and a license to pull some of the stress off of your mother. You complain, but you're unwilling to do anything about it. Put up or shut up, boy.

and you respond with this:

Quote:
And Zuljin, I'm tired of your crap, too. I have a license, but I don't have a car. Read the thread, and try again. On second thought, close your little browser and forget you ever posted here. You're clearly incapable of understanding a single thing I'm getting at.

Zuljin is right and he wasn't insulting you.

Because that statement was entirely idiotic. Zuljin's not right. Zuljin's never right. That last post was referring to more than just what's been said in this thread. I'm tired of Zuljin and any interaction I've ever had with him, as a whole.

So maybe I'm bitter. Okay. I hate Zuljin. This isn't news to him.

i'll admit i don't get along with Ubuu and Zul sometimes... but man, they're giving you some good advice.

i still haven't read why you can't walk home from school? i'm just interested in getting the facts here; i'm not telling "WALK PEON!"

now, i have a lot of respect for your mother. raising a kid on her own has to be hard and then running a home-based business on top of that is VERY hard (i know, my parents have both done that)
if you knew earlier that you were going to stay after school you could've phoned home and said "hi mom, sorry but i'm going to take care of my schedule after school... not sure when i'll be finished but maybe an half hour or so." then even if you take longer than 30mins she'll be happy that you were polite enough to consider her busy schedule and phone her.

and quite frankly, your mother's work is more important than you think. i agree 100% with Ubuu in saying that you have clothes, food, a computer and internet all provided by your mothers work. if she runs her business in a way that seems bad to you then POLITELY address the issue and a CONVENIENT and APPROPRIATE time. and don't yell at your mother... that never helps.
i know that from experience ;D

anyway... that's just my 2cents on the matter.

i thought about this being the anti-sig... or the sig virus... or the sig of your nightmares... but i decided that some painful rhetoric might work instead...

Well, I skipped most of this thread because people are just arguing for the sake of arguing.

Anyway, your mom wasn't mad at you because she might have missed an appointment, she was mad at you because you made her wait. She made up that stuff about the client subconciously to make your transgression against her seem a lot more serious than it really was, and to make the reason for her being mad seem less selfish.

In between getting signatures, you should have run outside to your mom's car to tell her you were running late.

I don't feel like reading the whole thread but here's my reply to the first post;

You should be thankful your mom is willing to pick you up in the first place. I had to walk for 45 minutes (over an hour in the winter) in some harsh weather conditions on a busy road that didn't even have a sidewalk, and that was every day. Your mom runs a buisness, so her time is very precious. I understand that the crisis with your classes was in no way your fault, but you could've walked this once, or at least be more patient and endure your mom's b***ing. You're very lucky to have a mom who's willing to do that, and you shouldn't take it for granted.

I believed he said that he would need to cross busy highways or something along the lines of that.
Personally I do agree with Correction's logic that a client should wait until its time for his appointment. If she leaves, oh well that's only one client.

Oh boy, I would love to argue with my parents to stop with the racial, facist, and stereotypical comments. However, Jedi legend is right that it's useless to argue with them. So I just keep my mouth shut, much like how I am at other places.
I also have a ton of things to say to other people like just recently today on bus, the kids on my bus got too noisy and the substitute driver stop the bus for five minutes. I would love to k...

I have to say that, seriously, Correction, no matter what you do, nothing is going to change how your mom feels about her clients. Even if she gets pissed at you for a whole 10 minutes, blow it off, it's better than having a pack of rabid dogs eating the both of you.

And I'm with Zuljin and Ubuu though... kind of. If you had a job you could pay for your own car, or if you have a license and your mom isnt using her car... why not use it? and I'm willing to bet your mom would be able to help you out with getting to work a bit as long as you both tell each other your schedules.

I'm just going to throw this in for all of you saying "if the client left, so what, that's only one client." His mother is raising him by herself. Missing that one client is her losing money, and potential future income as well. Not only would that one client most likely not return, ever, they would probably discourage friends from using his mother's services. She's probably worried about losing income, that's why she's affraid of angering clients and potentially losing money.

She has nothing to be afraid of. She has no reason to complain or worry about not enough money, and she doesn't. We're not bad off at all...

And to all you people who said I should have walked, I could not have walked. When I said "we like live within walking distance of the school" I was exaggerating. I suppose we do live, technically, within a distance that could be walked in a couple of hours, but given the geography and layout of the roads... it's not going to happen. It's not like I'd be taking a stroll through neighborhoods... I'd be darting across I-85.

My mom is never there to pick me up until about 3:40 anyways. For her to be there early was out of the ordinary- likewise, for me to be late was also out of the ordinary. Neither of us knew, it couldn't be avoided. She can get mad with me all she wants, I'm fine with that. What bothers me is she's so afraid of hurting her clients' feelings.

Until we can learn to argue in a somewhat civilized matter (yes it's tough), we can't just have "No, you're stupid" comments throughout it. Nothing more is getting accomplished than flaming.

This thread is....BALEETED!!!!
