HL2 SP will offer approximately 15 hours of gameplay, Valve said. Just as with the first Half-Life, HL2 will be mod-dependant from then on, so they want mods out as soon as possible.

is it possible to edit the game without owning the game, i thought game editors were dependent on the files which come with the game.

They are doing this so that mod developers can get a head start (learning the tools etc)... Which is quite helpful.

darn, they're already working on a stargate mod for HL2.

But I'm waiting for the Vampire Bloodlines game, using the same engine. Oh baby its sweet! Awesome! ¬_¬

That doesn't mean there can't be two! Most mods fail horribly. They release 40 untextured models and just kind of die out when they cant get glory from models anymore. You've got the competency and drive to finish something, so it may be worth it.

Personally, I'm going to see about rounding up a group of editors to create a mod reminiscent of DF: less focus on jedi and more on guns, maybe in a class based fighting scenario.

Think Enemy Territory + Star Wars.
