LAN games in school!

At school my Advanced Visual Basic class of 12 people got a hold on a UT demo and we have started having LAN games whenever possible. Its insane fun playing with people you know and being able to talk to them without typing.

Maybe we should get back to work . . . nah. ..

Yeah, I had many a LAN game in my computer engineering class in grade 11. CS is mad fun when your ENTIRE class is playing while the substute teacher is watching for OTHER teachers. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

But alas, we couldn't fool the main computer guy at our school (he was our teacher too [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif] we teased him about the CS thing) for much longer and this year (grade 12) can't download anything. BUT I found out a way to DL flash games and store 'em in a folder for my playing pleasure. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

Too bad I was in high school in the days before broadband, LAN games, and computer labs were common. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif]

If we did that at our school, the teachers would have a cow, really.

I wish LAN gaming existed when I went to school. The most fun I had was disabling the crappy arse security system on our 386 Windows 3.1 systems and installing a few DOS games. It was pretty funny watching the teaching instruct the class from the front, while everyone was playing games.

haha, one time she busted me playing Scorched Earth and dropped my grade level by one letter. I still passed though [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

At my school we play MP internet games, and have played UT and Doom. Doom was on the main server for a little while. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

My former high school has a computer club that sponsors all-night LAN parties once every couple of months. At the last one, they had over a hundred kids attend and gave away a DVD player as a doorprize. It's pretty impressive. You may all commence being jealous. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

I set up the Halo PC demo on four of the Yearbook computers we have. It looks like crap, but it releaves stress. Something I get quite a bit of in that class being the only technical wizard, the only graphic artist, and the only man who is there to help every day. The other guy comes in on his lunch break and sits on his *** for 15 to 20 minutes and generally does nada. Occasionally when pestered enough he'll launch Pagemaker and load up the needed pages. Don't get me wrong, I can find my way around Pagemaker, but I'm no good at making the actual pages.

Why am I talking about this...

No LAN games, but when there are large sporting events going on in school and no one's there, I bring in the Gamecube and we play that. I managed to get my sixty year-old journalism teacher to play SSBM, and he wasn't as bad as you would expect.

A couple of buddies play StarCraft at school during our breaks if we have no homework but of course school comes before video games.

My C++ class last year played Tribes and Unreal Gold (I myself only played Unreal, didn't get to play Tribes), and the year before that, I heard they played Doom. This year he's being more strict about games. (the main one that's always been there is Mario)

Also, my friend played Quake 3 in his Q Basic class. (quickie story). They were killing each other, then one of the other players pumped a grenade right in his stomache. "Oh, B****!" he yelled. "What did you say?!?" the teacher said. My friend said to her "Ummm, I don't know?" Then the teacher dropped the case.

Until last week, I had never played any games in my computer classes; I concentrated on my work and then fun. Last week was very tedious so I decided to take a break. That is where UT comes in to the picture. My class had a substitute teacher who told us to do two programs from the textbook. I started one but then continued fragging my classmates.
