around 2200 I believe, and yeah glasses are what i ahd my whole life and it sucked when I could not wear them for hockey and other contact sports or just lieing comfortable sideways on a pillow watching a movie without the ear piece sticckin into ur head. Its unbelivable man you wake up and can see whats going on and wear normal sunglasses and i think your taking a slightly too negative approach to it. Trust me man it is sooo worth it, think about it never having to wear glasses again.

I've heard to many horror stories about people going blind and what not years later to really ever consider it.

I'm not sure I'll be needing Lasik with my 13/20 vision (both eyes).

But I've been hearing nothing but good remarks about Lasik. And I do believe price is going down.

Heh. I dunno what mine is, all that I know is that it is REALLY GOOD. The doc really never tells me exactly what it is, other than he wishes he had eyesight like mine. All I know is, I can read every single line on the chart.

My mom had Lasik... my dad was telling me something like "maybe when you get a little older we'll get you lasik or RK. Probably RK, though, because they'll still let you fly if you get RK but not Lasik."

. . . I just looked at him with a blank stare. That comment about flying was completely out of the blue [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif] I have no interest in flying whatsoever, and have never had any interest in flying whatsoever... I think my dad's losing it.

anyways, congrats I guess... doesn't really matter to me if I ever get it or not. contacts aren't all that bad, imo [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

Heh. My eyes are too screwed to be considered zap-worthy. I don't even know what numberslashnumber my eyes are, suffice to say that I can't see the big letter at the optician's without glasses.

Yeah, but you know what? This one, this one right here, this was my dream, my wish, and it didn't come true. So I'm takin' it back. I'm takin' 'em all back.

I would really like to get surgery to correct my eyes, but my doctor said that he recomends waiting till I'm at least 21 to do it (4 years). I think I'm gonna get contacts till then. Glasses just get in the way more now and are one more thing I have to think about.

I'm glad that you liked the surgery. That makes me more confident that it will be okay. Plus, if I have to wait 4 years to get the surgery then the process can only get more refined.

You must be talking about 20/13 vision. It is impossible to have 13/20, unless you are talking about an up-close acuity test, where the normal is 14/14.

The first 20 in 20/20 vision is what the average. So, if I hvae 20/15 vision, I can read at 20 feet what most people have to get 5 feet closer to read. The first number tells you whether the second number stands for your distance or your up-close acuity.

Without glasses or contacts I have 20/60 in my right eye and 20/200 in my left. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif]
Heh, my dad was making jokes about my left contact outweighing the right one by about 14 pounds...

I'm nearsighted too, but I'll stick with glasses. I only where them when I need to see distance, like seeing the chalkboard in school or when I get my license to drive.

To me you're pretty brave, cause I wouldn't want anyone getting near my eyes with a laser. I don't even want contacts.... nothing that directly touches my eyes!!!

But glasses can be annoying, such as what you stated about laying on your side and having them jam into your head.

I feel like I'm going to vomit every time something touches my eye. I could never do the surgery.

My dad had it done and is extremely happy with the results. I have also met people that can't see at night anymore (too many "halos" around light sources), and others that have constantly dry eyes and need drops every couple of hours for the rest of their lives [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif]

I don't know what my 20/xx number is, but I wear -4.50 contacts... I'm very seriously considering having the surgery done.
