I, single-handedly, got Massassi banned from every school in the county.

Go me! Now I have nothing to do on spares...

Does your school block Massassi?

mine doesn't. then again, my school was dumb enough to block www.yahoo.com because of the games, but didn't block play.yahoo.com, so we can still get to the games.

Apparently, someone went through the logs and found out that a Star Wars website had been acessed several hundred times by my user account, and that it had nothing to do with my school work.

We have this really stupid system where we can only use the internet for educational purposes.

I go to college were adults as long as its not illegal or porn we can go were we want online.

my school doesn't really track your usage or even really check when you're on the internet. you jsut have to give the teacher your ID while using it. but then again, we only have 3 internet capable computers (my school is very, very, very cheap)

Ive got a solution to that, I just bring my laptop to school, cause my friends and i found a wireless cable connection that extends into parts of the school from one of the nearby houses, so we just kinda "borrow" it....

When you try to access a no-no site at my school, this dumbass message comes up that says "Silly smee, you can't go there under the ORCSD!" and it has a picture of a pirate. Goddamn district support guy. Then again, I've had need of the school computers maybe once this year, so it hasn't been a big deal (that's the advantage to only having one class you actually need to pass to graduate, especially when that class is Shop!)

I didn't know about Massassi in my high school days, so I have no idea. No problems on the university network when I lived in the dorms.

I can access Masassi just fine, but the filiter calls nearly every other website porn, when I know it's not. It wouldn't let me look at a page of quotes by Philip K. Dick. I wonder why...

Yup, you can try it, it's been banned from every WRDSB computer according to that "Blocked" page that comes up. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif] Yeah, we had Mr. Cuthbert, he was a great principal, and I know his son pretty well.

Thanks Buck, that's perfect.

Ours tries to be restrictive. The only way to get completely locked out from the internet is to get blocked by the IT d00d.

I don't mean to state the obvious (well maybe I do), but I think Massassi is most definitely an educational site. Not only do people learn about online communities, they can also learn how to use 3d modelling programs, how to program games (cog, scripting, etc.), how to do animation, texture creation, etc. Just because it's about a game doesn't mean it's not educational. It doesn't mean it's not applicable to other subjects (spatial design, geometry especially [hell, look at the perfect polygons tutorial!], color theory, a multitude of comuter technologies, etc.).

In my opinion, schools should be doing their absolute best to find things in the real world that are both fun and educational at the same time. They should be PAYING US to provide this content, not blocking it from students. I hate the public education system.

I agrees. Everytime I had some research to do in school, I could have gotten my information ten times faster if massassi hadn't been blocked.

While you're somewhat right, you can't deny the fact that there IS some stuff on this site that schools would rather not have kids viewing during school time.

Your right Massassi isn't just one of those useless gaming communities. People actually learn and develop skills and make great stuff on this site. We have hundreds of downloads to prove it. And I don't see why people wouldn't consider it an educational site.

Our public education system could take a few lessons from Massassi. :eyeroll:
