Keep away from them, guys. You don't need them most of the time anyway.

Yeah, wait until your illness progresses into pneumonia to take them. Do your part to stave off the wave of immune bacteria! [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

If people wouldn't wuss out over every little unclean situation, we wouldn't have rampant asthma and allergies.

Just remember, antibiotics won't do anything against a virus. They only work on bacteria.

Yeah, but you know what? This one, this one right here, this was my dream, my wish, and it didn't come true. So I'm takin' it back. I'm takin' 'em all back.

Also, don't bother listening to your doctor - for all you know, he slept through the lectures at med school.

Shut up. I'm GOING to do this whether you like it or not.

Wait, that's right, we have chlorine in our water and preservatives in our food and stuff like that, don't we?

That explains a lot.

It isn't good to take many antibiotics because you, and the bacteria themselves more importantly, build up resistances to them.

http://www.fda.gov/fdac/features/2002/402_bugs.html

I'm sure Run may have something to add to this. But yeah, doctors just love perscribing things. It is the quick and easy path, and we all know where that goes.

This would also merit a discussion of how Docs over presribe psycotic drugs, but I'll leave that be for now.

Don't trust doctors, they are people too, and people make mistakes. Be educated, never follow anyone blindly. I'll give you another example. A general prac. perscribed me Levofloxacin ([edit]put Amox, but I was too lazy to check back what it really was[/edit]) when I was ~14. Happens this drug is not to be given to people under 21, it stunts growth. Anyhow, my two cents.

Where the hell did you get that BS? Amoxicillin is under the family of penecillin, and does NOT stunt growth. Don't believe everything you read on the net, foo.

(I should know, I've had every anti-biotic known to man through IV's. Well, all but one. The last one they were saving until I got so deathly ill that I would be put in ICU. But that's a different story.)

He's right. I believe it's commonly prescribed for ear-aches for children, as a chewable, am I right?

so take the meds as directed! If people would take their prescribed medications how the doctor told them to, a lot of problems with dependancies and side effects would be avoided.
