Now, I know theres are alot of anti console types in this community so I thought it would be interesting to hear your views on The Phantom. A console that plays P.C games , is upgradable and doesnt use C.Ds or Carts ? Could it work ? Or is this a Jaguar waiting to happen ?

It's been called a fraud many times, and I heard they cancelled once when they said they were going to 'unveil' it. Even if was real their system of purchasing/trading/whatever and such would get undermined by a piracy one. Yep, it'll never get off the ground.

I just have something against purple spandex in general.

There is a new system in the works by Apex and VIA I believe called the ApeXtreme. It will play PC games and have a DVD player in it. Sounds pretty promising.

Gee.. It has the ability to play PC-games, watch DVDs, download demos, and download games off the internet... Doesnt sound like a PC to me

Not true. The office was in a strip mall, inside was a Desk and a chair and a phone. Calling said phone gets you a voice mail thing. The person who left a message was called back 28 days later (or something stupid). The investigator asked about the HQ, and the rep from the 'Phantom' flipped out and started threatening with law suits and such.

So what do I think about it? I think it's a fake. And like Gabe and Tycho said, if it is real its a broken PC.

I think it's real. I've seena lot of interviews about it and it was (supopsedly) revealed at CES. The specs look nice and the ability to play games while they download also sounds cool. At around $400, it's also a lot cheaper than to buy a computer with similar specs. This will definately be something to watch.
