If the Aircraft carrier is privately owned, that's perfectly legal. The illegality (is that a word) in cases like this comes from the fact that they're selling something that's not rightfully theirs to sell.

Well, if the world as we know ended and I happened to buy West Virginia off eBay (I didn't though), the only documents left of the era of our mankind could be Ebay transactions. When the earth is again inhabited by a new civilization years later, they might find those records and name me "Emperor of the country if West Virginia."

obviously... does anyone remember when people put junks for the trade centers on Ebay... those people were banned within a week I think.
