Here's what's going on:

1. The google search box no longer works. The google icon was replaced by a magnifying glass icon, and when I try to search with it, nothing seems to happen.


2. My toolbar settings get changed back to the default small icons when the program loads.


3. Some Popup ads are getting through the popup blocker.

4. My bookmarks dissappeared.

I don't think it was hijacked, it just started acting weird all of a sudden yesterday. I tried reinstalling it, but nothing changes.

I did a virus and spyware search, and it came up clean.

Ten bucks says something happened with your profile.

Go to c:\documents and settings\YOURUSERNAME\Application Data\Phoenix

Delete everything there. You'll loose your settings, but it should fix any problems. Reinstall Firebird, and try again. (If you can't find the folder Application Data, make sure you have Hidden Files off.)

(And before you ask, when you uninstall Firebird, it doesnt clear that directory. Don't ask me why.)

For the first one: The magnifying glass means "Find on Page." When you see that, you have to change to Google by selecting it in the menu that appears upon clicking the down arrow.

Okay, I have everything but my favourites list back, as well as the links toolbar has nothing on it and I can't add to it. Oh well, I still have access to the main Bookmarks list.

What do you suppose caused these problems? Firebird is supposed to be one of the most secure browsers (at least compared to IE) so I wasn't expecting anything like this. Knowing what it was would be nice to keep it from happening again.

Probably a bug. That's why there are new builds nearly everyday.

Yeah, I think I recall seeing something of this myself in the pre-6.0 builds. I havent seen it since.
