No moniter signal. AKA, nothing on the screen- it stays in power save mode. I've tried taking out the memory, video card, other PCI devices and such, but still nothing. i know there is Hard Drive activity and the drives all work. I don't hear a beep code, but I also don't know if the speaker is working.

To test the speker, take out the video card or RAM and boot up. Then you'll hear beeps if the speaker is working.

Try plugging it into a different monitor (family member's, freind's). At least then you can narrow down where the problem is.

I know the moniter and video card both work, as I have 2 cards that don't work with that comp right now, And I'm using another comp with that moniter right now. I have yet to check the speaker.

If you're using PCI or AGP vid card, plug into the onboard. Trust me, it took me an hour to realize that was what was wrong one time.

What? What do you mean by 'plug onto the onboard'?

i had a similar problem....the vid card may not be compatible with the motherboard....either that or u didnt seat your vid card properly....push it down with a bit of force....dont worry bout damaging the vid card....but on that same note....dont break it...if no go then bring it to your local computer shop

I had the same problem with another computer. Pushing it down harder solved the problem. I know it the video card is good, because I am having the *same* problemm with *2* different cards. And I don't have onboard video.

  • Intel 865PERL mobo
  • Intel p4 1.5 GHz 400 FSB
  • Dual channel crucial 256mb PC-2700 DDR SDRAM @ 333Mhz each
  • PNY Geforce 4 Ti 4200 64mb OR Geforce 2 MX (tried both)
  • modem

I removed the graphics card and booted. No beep code.

The speaker wire on the case is not plugged into the mobo as there is no place I can see to plug it in. The manual points to a cylander with a + on it, but no place for a cable.

Earlier I plugged the primary IDE cable in backwards and it wouldn'd boot at all. I don't think there is any power going through that cable though.

Edit: I am using a Pentium III power supply with a pentium 4 12v adapter

I'm pretty sure something is shorting out, because all fans are running, the drives work, and lights are on. I don't know how to get the speaker working, however, which is crucial if there is an error code.

Do you have a P4 power supply you can try?

You can also try reseating the processor..worked for my old PII system. However..yours is socket..so it probably won't help. Worth a shot, though..

Yes, actually I do have another power supply along with another case I can use. I don't know what you mean by reseting the processor though. I was also considering constructing it on a piece of wood outside the case for testing purposes.
