Don't the New Jedi Order? I know the guy who killed off Chewie...

Or more specifically, his son.

I went back to my middle school today to get some tutoring with a teacher, and I was there early so I went to talk to my old history teacher. We were in homeroom, with a score or two of 6th graders, and he asked "Do you like SW books?"
I said, "Yeah. They're ok. Haven't been great as of late."
Replies he, "Yeah. Well.. his dad *points* writes them."
*jaw drops* What's his last name?
"Luceno. James" (I was hoping it was Zahn...)
"That's awesome! What has he written?"
"The latest Jedi order book or something.. He gave me a free draft of it."
"Wait. He writes for the NJO? He didn't.. happen.. to write the first one.. did he?"
"Yeah.. He did-"
*makes stabbing motions towards kid*

Yeah. So.. I can find this kids address. Holy crap. I have this guys phone number!! Awesome. Who wants to stage a raid, and demand the write a final final book where it was all just a bad dream of Han's?

No. He didn't write the first one. He wrote the Agent of Choas sub-series, which wasn't nearly as bad.

I'd much rather kill off the authors of NJO.
A desperate disease requires a dangerous remedy.

A major source of objection to a free economy is precisely that it gives people what they want instead of what a particular group thinks they ought to want. Underlying most arguments against the free market is a lack of belief in freedom itself.

Yeah, NJO and the prequels have pretty much ruined Star Wars for me. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif]

You've got to be kidding, Salvatore's book is the only good NJO book.

The way I see it Lucas and the EU authors are currently taking turns in beating the fast cooling corpse of Star Wars with a baseball bat.

I say we need a revolution.

In my opinion, it was a revolution that killed Star Wars; particularly in the case of this New Jedi Order stuff. 'Classic' Star Wars, the formula that brought us all together, was hot-potatoed out the figurative window. Whatever happened to the lightsaber duels, and the moral sliding scale issues of the Force?

...yes, I KNOW that was done a lot. A lot-lot. But see what happens when we try something new?

Most of the EU is garbage anyways, especially when you start comparing it to other Sci Fi literature.

Some of Zahn's stuff is OK. It just shows up really badly in SW when authors wish to put their own blend of writing in - entire novels go by without Luke or Han killing something, and the romance side-plots (note; SIDE plots) suddenly become all-encompassing shmooze. Pass me a Kleenex, and a vomit bag while you're at it.

It's my understanding that most of the plot was written by a committe or something, not the individual authors. They just put them on paper.

Save for a few, I don't really like the EU books. It's just gotten on my nerves that whenever the New Republic has a problem, they ALWAYS dispatch Luke, Han, Leia and the gang to fix it. It just doesn't seemed logical to me that they should rely on them every time, all the time.

It talks on the CD that came with The Unifying Force (the last one) about how Salvator got a whole crapload of hate-mail, and even threats. Even though the decision came from LucasBooks - the only thing Salvatore could do was choose how he died.
SPOILER:

I think throwing a planet on him just after he saved hundreds of lives was the best way for him to go, frankly
