WinXP Folder Settings Issue
2004-01-15, 5:19 PM #1
After a failed attempt at changing the icon that explorer uses for folders [or file folders, i don't recall which]. In file types, folder, advanced, change icon. So i changed it back.

Now in the right pane of explorer, when i double click on a folder there to open it instead of expanding that, it opens an entirely new explorer window. This is a bit annoying.

Any ideas ?

I /have/ linux.. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]
But until linux brings me full support for the games i play, and a powerful useable graphical mud client akin to zmud.. then i'm not goin g to be booted into it all the time.. not to mention that it's consistently and totally refused to have anything to do with my D drive, which is not only where my games and such are, but also where i archive albums in mp3 format and such, so i'm stuck with playing cd's for music when i'm there.

Click on "Control Panel," then on "Command Center," then on "Reset
Variables," then on "Establish New Parameters," then on "Define Variables,"
then on "Modify Criteria," then on "Effectuate Paradigms," then on the little
icon that says "Do Not Ever Click On This Little Icon," then go down to the
box that says "Enter New Value" and type "2038."

Is your D drive NTFS perhaps?
2004-01-16, 8:38 PM #12
Certainly not. C and D are both fat32. D is a reasonably new 60G

Reports 2096 cylindars, 63 sectors per track, 255 heads. I can't remember the brand without opening my case up right off though. It's been kinda finicky in general. Zipslack refused to boot off it, slackware couldn't mount it, gentoo can't mount it. As best i can tell it's some sort of complaints about superblocks. Norton Disk Doctor checks it out perfectly kosher however.

However.. under 2k and currently xp, it bsods windows when i try to defragment it with either the drive management defrag or norton's.

But besides that it works swimmingly.. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/redface.gif]
