N64 Emulator question
2004-01-16, 9:22 PM #1
Are there any that support the 'dual control' style of Goldeneye and Perfect Dark, but on one dual analog controller? That'd be swank if the did, then it's PS2 style FPS for the 64.

Um...emulators arent illegal. Roms are, IF you dont have the original game.

Not a direct reference to ROM's, but enough reference for me.

Guys, he's done nothing wrong.

In most I'm sure you could remap the keys and then have some kind of external program that map joystick/gamepad keys to those, but it'd be kinda complicated.

You've heard all this before, but ROMS are illegal. Read the licence agreement on Nintendo games. (I still use them but whatever)

Maybe it needs to be drummed into some folk - like learning your times tables...

What BV said: ROMs illegal if you don't have the game - it's been said/done/killed before...

Meh.

It doesn't matter if they're illegal or not. What matters is that you shouldn't be playing mini-admin, shouting, "omg ROMz illegal cloze ban plz kthx admins!!" [http://forums.massassi.net/html/rolleyes.gif]

Uh fellas, I'm with Emon. I've been posting here for years, I know what can be posted and what can't. This isn't about warez. I've said nothing about downloading, and for that matter, owning games. I'm asking about the emulator, to see if it's even worth going through the trouble of buying cartridges that will rot in my closet.

He's just asking about a controller regarding the emulator. It's not like he's asking where to get the emulator or rom.
2004-01-17, 12:24 PM #18
most good emulators allow you to assign controller buttons to whatever you want... and if you want the true n64 experience i suggest using a controller adapter

Just assign one of your analog sticks to an analog stick on one controller, and the other stick to the stick on a second n64 controller. Most plugins should be able to do it, but I use Nrages.

Of course, I only use my N64 emulator to play free N64 demos. :shifty:

i guess it depends on what input plugin you use and which emu...
so, what emu and plugin are you using? [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

(btw, I reccomend Project64... and i second what oS said (= )

Thanks for the help all. I ended up figuring out how to do it on Project 64. But, I ended up with left analog being analog; X, square, circle, triangle (called 1-4 on my controller) being C buttons, middle button for start, left analog in for L or R, shoulder buttons for B, A, and Z.

The good thing is, you can have different configs for different games. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]
