Sound Blaster not compatable with 4 speakers?
2004-01-17, 11:19 AM #1
Ok, so I just installed a new motherboard, processor, and Windows. Since I reformated I had to reinstall new drivers for everything and now my Sound Blaster Live! won't play through all 4 of my speakers. I had this problem before but the same fix isn't working now. I've been trying all morning to fix this and it's really starting to piss me off. Any help is appreciated.

Remember what the LIVE cost when it came out? Geesh get over it.

Anyway, to get it to play through 4 speakers (on my win2k), I had to install the drivers from creative.com, including AUDIOHQ, then you go to the multimedia properties and select 4 speakers. It's also under audioHQ.

I think Brian is right. My computer came with Live! and audioHQ already installed.

Also make sure that if you have a surround dial on your speakers, it is turned up, instead of down. This got me for a few days once when I couldnt get all 4 of my speakers to work.

Download the drivers from the soundblaster site, and they should work. Aparently the drivers that come with Windows XP don't work correctly.
