If you were doing a fan film sometime after Return of The Jedi, would you decide to kill Luke off? Leave him? Have no referrence to him what so ever?

Call me curious.. this will also help me with my FanFilm =o)

I thought they did kill Luke in one of the books.

They killed a clone in the Thrawn Trilogy, but not Luke himself. Unless they do it in the New Jedi Order books...

For a fan film, yes I think it might be acceptable, if done tastefully and well. But dont count on ever seeing it done in any Star Wars novel. Maybe it might happen if GL ever does the last 3 movies though.

If I was doing a fan film I wouldn't have any of the main characters make an appearance. IMHO they are being delt with enough in the EU. I would try to make my own story with original charakters, that would not interfere with the existing stories.

Instead of relieving your p***s-envy by waving a stick around and ruining your potential story by sticking in rogue Sith and other people who use lightsabers you could make a fanfilm based on other aspects of the Star Wars universe; it does extend beyond lightsabers you know!! I'd give the X-Wing series as an example but Corran Horn decided he'd be a Jedi too. Oh and if you really do need to swing a stick around and then use your cracked version of Adobe After Effects to add a lightsaber blade, just do an effects test!

a friend of mine wrote a story that he wants to turn into a fanfilm only 2 jedi... luke... who dies of old age and 1 dead jedi mentioned in a little "flashback" the main character has when he is asked where he got his lightsaber... considering the main character isn't a jedi

*SPOILER ALERT* (for my fan film)

Okay well.. getting over that, I'm basing this fan film around the current time line, infact close to 30 or more years after Return of the Jedi, quite obviously I wanted to have the Empire end up having no choice but to combine forces and betray (once again) the Alliance/Rebellion and join with the Yuuzhan Vong, (hence the next title of the film or JA Mod that follows, havent decided on which yet) and I figured that it would be good to have Luke just recently "pass on" in some form or another, perhaps not violently or in any gory sense, but more heroic/legendary.

So in conclusion, the "timeline" doesnt have to be exactly around the time.. obviously somewhere around that time whether its 40 years after, 50 years after ROTJ etc etc but I'd like it to be close.. what about you lot? Any ideas?

Basically, whilst this has given me various interesting opinions as to what should happen and what shouldnt when it comes to main characters, in light of that in here and in another related forum, it really doesnt matter if he is alive or dead in this story line, I guess it was a simple pondering thought. Of course I havent quite decided if i should mention that he "dies gallantly in battle" (or something like that) or just well.. not even bother mentioning him at all heheh
Quite obvious though, the Jedi Order (New) WILL be mentioned, its just a matter of mentioning NEW Jedi and Sith characters.

Whitch reminds me, are there any character name generator programs out there for windows?
