US easily.

EU is a bunch of peace-loving hippies. Only Britain, Germany, and France have big militaries, and I don't think Britain is in the EU. France would surrender, so that takes them out. Therefore, it would be up to Germany and possibly Italy to save Europe. Not gonna happen.

Well in '99 there was the Rapture tournament

Kane, DOOMer, Blitzer and Cable for the EU

Batch, Pure, Gemini and Genocide for the US

Was very interesting to watch the demos. The US was always able to tie down the RA and RL rooms and start timing the quad at the beginning, but I think the EU were the better team as they were usually able to make a come-back and take control of the RA room.

There were nine games, all DM3, EU won overall.

The UK (I.e. Us). First we have an admittedly small but highly, highly trained army, including the 22nd Regiment Special Air Service (SAS) who would do some major *** -kicking for us. Do you even know how insanely trained and professionalised these people are? Chris Ryan is a famous ex-SAS soldier who managed to survive days deep behind enemy lines with pretty much only the clothes he was wearing. (So I heard, it's definitely something along those lines; i.e. the people most likely to find him were the enemy).

Hm, last time I checked Germany was interested in conquering Europe, not saving it.

The US has several highly trained units of near and possibly equal training.

Actually, the result would be that Bush would have a difficult time convincing the UN to let him atack Europe, and wouldn't dare risk a unilateral operation, given how Iraq alone had a good chance of costing him the election, and face it, he'd have a hard time impressing the US populace by saying he'd captured Jacques Chirac, given that very few in the US know who he is, among other things...

...So, I might say that the whole conflic would be resolved in a scuffle in the UN headquarters. I'm not sure who would come out on top, but I'd pay a good bit to be able to watch!

I'd be a little worried about the UK and Switzerland, as you do not **** with England, Scotland or Ireland, ever, and Switzerland can mobilize millions of men in 24 hours. Contrary to popular opinion, French troops in WW2 fought voraciously, but failed because of poor leadership. Still, the rest of Europe's armies are small and underfunded.

Nottheking - I think the fact that we're talking about a war between the US and EU kinda throws out any pretense of realism... so the UN is out of the picture.
A desperate disease requires a dangerous remedy.

A major source of objection to a free economy is precisely that it gives people what they want instead of what a particular group thinks they ought to want. Underlying most arguments against the free market is a lack of belief in freedom itself.

If we're barring all realism, wouldn't the fact that the US has the largest surplus of weapons of mass destruction give it the edge? I mean, sure, Nuclear fallout would eventually destroy the US too, but we could drop 30 or 40 small H bombs on the Eurasian continent and that would be that. Ground forces and airforces don't really matter anymore. It's a matter of who has the faster ICBM and who can push a button first. The fact that Bush (whom I hate, so do not take this post as any insight into my political viewpoints regarding war) is a trigger happy texan, would again give him and thus the US the edge. He'd prolly push the buttons as soon as the notion got into his head.
