TwistedSoul, you totally missed the point.

We know Maul is better based on the fact that A) he beat Quigon, and B) he has seventh form to Quigon's fourth form.

That's not the point at all - the point is that I was trying to find a way to get you guys to think about how retarded these vs. topics are.

Of course, you also have to take into account that this is George Lucas' version. The movie shows it the way he sees it. For all we really know, QuiGon could be God and Maul could be some loser with a glow in the dark, plastic lightsaber, and the only reason QuiGon lost is because he was laughing so hard at something stupid Maul did during the coffe break. Wouldn't that be a show!

In his prime Qui-Gon would have owned Maul. Maul was a wimp anyway.

He's Dooku's apprentice though, I wonder why he wasn't better at saber-on-saber.

He was good at more battlefield-style saber on saber. Nowhere near the ability of Dooku's fencing type style.

Qui-Gon was Dooku's before Dooku turned to the dark side. Near EpII's end, Dooku says to Obiwan something like "You forget that he (QuiGon) was once my apprentice"

Maul was apprentice to Sidious
QuiGon was to Dooku
Obiwan was to Quigon (obviously)

This has always gotten me - why is everyone's saber style so different from their master's? It's almost mind boggling.

Yoda - form four.
He taught Dooku (form 2) and Luke (form 5).
Dooku taught Quigon (form 4) who taught Obiwan (form 3) who taught Anakin (form 5).

What's up with that?
