Poll: Will Opportunity Make It To Mars?
2004-01-17, 1:18 PM #1
Keep in mind that out of everything that has tried to land on Mars, only two have succeeded thus far.

Also keep in mind that it uses the exact same design as Spirit, which landed and is working perfectly.

What are your thoughts?

With all the variables taken into account, I say that there is no way that two thingys could land on Mars, both working successfully within a month of one another.

But they are independent of one another, so any person who has ever taken a statistics course will tell me how flawed my logic is.

Oh well.

Yes, that's quite ridiculous. I don't see why it can't succeed, so I'll say yes.
A desperate disease requires a dangerous remedy.

A major source of objection to a free economy is precisely that it gives people what they want instead of what a particular group thinks they ought to want. Underlying most arguments against the free market is a lack of belief in freedom itself.

Of course it won't succeed!! The Martians have by now most definately realized where the first one came from, and their SAM missiles will be ready for the next!! :O

it will make it, but it's batteries will die just before it reaches the city while the other has backdrops placed in front of it.

But surely, NASA would have realized that they would have SAMs ready, and would have installed a defense system.

Of course, but the Martians would have seen the first one and figured this into their diobolical plans, and therefore the SAMs are actually just a diversion while they shoot it down with LASERS!

Well its always good to be optomistic, and SPIRIT was a huge hit, so I would say yes.
