What happened to Dean?

In the Iowa caucus today, Kerry won with 38% of the vote, Edwards got 32%, while Howard Dean came up with a pithy 12%. What is the deal? Wasn't he the frontrunner?
Yikes.

People came to their senses.
A desperate disease requires a dangerous remedy.

A major source of objection to a free economy is precisely that it gives people what they want instead of what a particular group thinks they ought to want. Underlying most arguments against the free market is a lack of belief in freedom itself.

Media frontrunner. That's about it. It really doesn't matter who gets the Democrat nod, though. They really don't have a shot until 2008. I almost feel sorry for them.

Kerry is the only candidate I saw with substance. He seemed honest and open to me. Probably due to the fact that he's also incredibly ugly and has nothing to lose.

The Media, being arrogant types, don't like people to be more popular them.

Despite the fact that they were the ones who launched Dean out of the depths of obscurity they decided that his 15 minutes were up, and they had just enough of this Dean character.

He even tried to tell the Media what to do.

They can't have that.

So they killed him.

*I think a recent Obviousman Non-Sequiter explained this better than I could*

But seriously, I think that Dean being a nattering nabob of negativism hurt him.

People expect him to be mean to the President, but dissing Kerry for not voting on an agriculture Bill that he did vote on,and telling a member of a town hall meeting to "sit down" and shut up when Dean was blasted for being negative damaged his image.

It's just a popularity contest anyway.

Lowsy Democrats...they're trying to get elected by saying everything sucks and that they hate everything including George Bush. Would they rather have Saddam Hussein in power? or rather Saddam Hussein as THEIR president? I think that Americans are tired of Democrats bickering (I sure am)

I like Kerry. It's high time we finally have a REALLY ugly president, just like the good old days.

Remember the days of radio?

Remember Taft?

Remember John Quincy Adams?

Well, neither do I, but my "American Pageant" history book makes me go all tingly with nostalgia anyway.

(Just as long as we don't get Clark. He changes his views more than Gollum performing Hamlet. And his Abortion position is as bad as Dean's)

Look, I'm right with you that the Democrats are too negative, but that's just goddamn absurd. That's about as absurd as when people compare Bush to Hitler.

I'm starting to believe that, to be a good president, you don't have to know anything about politics. Rather, you just have to not be a greedy dick. I'd be happy with a president that's just "fine", it would be better than a president who's "**** everything up and make people hate America".

No no no. Don't do that. That was utterly baseless and stupid. *sigh* This is why politics is slowly becoming distasteful to me. Right attacks Left. Left attacks Right. I'm over that, really.

About Dean. Dean was propped up by the media. I've heard nothing but Dean, Dean, Dean, since 2003. It seems like the other 8 candidates were insignificant. This actually does show that people do read up on the actual character than just what some beau/belle on TV spouts off. If Dean wants to keep his "frontrunner" status, he'd better make A LOT of changes.

First off, American politics has a HUGE deal with money, and since Dean had raised the most, it was *assumed* he was the front-runner. Kerry is the man. I've liked him ever since I read his health care policies. He's a Nor'easter like me, taking care of the country in the Senate, has prior experiance, and I LIKE his face. I'd vote on replacing his face on the 50 dollar bill. Damn straight, he's got a face for paintings and statues.

Second, F-Body, you don't know what you're talking about. Read their positions, see what THEY are saying, not through the simplified media garbage, and then play your video games while the elders amongst us vote.

Third, I am surprised and excited that someone started this topic. YAY!!!!

KERRY IN 04!

Ever since dean started his weblog, the news channels and sites have been going crazy about how he's "embracing technology to win the election" -- HELLO!? The media sucks, we all know that. I don't think he's entertaining to watch, either. It's like listening to a 4 year old cry about his broken toy.

Dean is as much of an idiot as Bush.

Some of the things he said are ridiculous ("I still want to be the candidate for guys with Confederate flags in their pickup trucks."), his constant outrages embarrassing and he generally does not sound like a very intelligent man.

Then, of course, you have Bush and the Republicans, with their overly conservative, church-going, Jesus blabbering, pickup driving mentality. Combine that with the fact that the majority of Republicans seem to think Bush is god's gift to earth (hint: get a reality check) and it becomes very difficult to consider myself a Republican.

In conclusion, American politics suck and I might or might not be moving to Canada.

That's why Bush is still getting my vote. :P

Meh, Dean is the absolute biggest idiot in politics today.

I want Bush to win, but if a Democrat had to win, I'd go with Clark, because he seems the most moderate of the Democrats.

Dean looks like he is going to explode when you see him. He needs anger management. And the capture of Saddam really ****ed him over.

I saw a thing on Edwards and he seems pretty cool. I still wish Lieberman was winning.

Okay, people. I know the "Dean = teh supar lamer" meme has wrapped itself around your collective brainstems like an emotionally-dependant lemur, but does anybody have a opinion that isn't based entirely on subjective personal impressions? Maybe something wrong with his politics?

In other news, I'd vote for Kerry.

But what baffles me when candidates (usually Democrats in this situation) claim to be Christian, but approve abortion?
