http://www.gametrailers.com/gt_vault/t_mgstwinsnakes_3.html

It's a long download, but after watching the whole 27 minutes trailer. You will notice how much bullet time (plus bullet dodging) they put into Metal Gear Solid. My main gripe is that it's used in nearly every boss cutscene. So bullet time isn't that dramatic anymore. Snake using more martial arts is fine though because FOXHOUND members are suppose to know a variety of martial art styles.

I can't help, but be reminded of that special Star Wars Trilogy DVD after finish watching the MGS Twin Snakes trailer.....

I know, but in a Metal Gear game? It kind of seems strange. I might get it depending on how the reviews go though. I noticed Rebel Strike is on sale for $29.99 at Best Buy...

I heard, that with the introduction of the new gameplay elements from the sons of liberty, that the layout of the game has been changed quite a bit to take advantage of this. I'm also expecting some extra stuff (although they might pull a substance again) to help with more content. But unless you are a MG fan/freak, it might not be worth getting this (as the re-release on gamecube says to me it's targetted towards fans and people who've never played it, which would be youngins)

I don't think Twin Snakes is gonna use bullet time. Are you sure those weren't cinematics? A lot of times developers just create certain camera angles and effects to use just for the trailer I havn't been able to watch the video yet...

The reason why you would want Twin Snakes is if you dont' have a PS2/PS. Not to mention the MGS2 engine updated for MGS, and all the things that you can do in MGS2 are now in MGS. 1 Hour of cinematics was also added.

so really, this is to appease the cube owners.

And yes, Snake Eater will own.

I've never played Metal Gear Solid, but I can still remember the original Twin Snakes teaser trailer, the one where he jumps off the waterfall, dramatic music and all. Good stuff.

The bullet times were not in acual gameplay, it was in cinimatics they were showing, I doubt you will be able to slow doen time and react to surroundings ala Max Payne or Enter the Matrix.

I think the bullet times added to the shots, and i noticed they changed alot of the diolouge from many of the cut scences they showed, like before in MGS Snake did not try and disarm Meryl, in this trailer he succedded in disarming her and then she took the gun back... looks neat

also the scene where snake fires at the ninja and the ninja splits the bullet with the sword in slomo and the two fragments turn into two bullets and that causes Otakon to pee his pants... it's more funny that way... but still, If i hada cube i'd defintly buy this game.

For those who asked what features will be in, I'm assuming the thrid person aiming feature from SOL will carry over, updated graphics using the SOL engine, smarter enemy AI... I mean come on, the enemy AI in SOL was hard at times, with the room clearing, and acauly checking lockers for you... in MGS it would have rocked more if they had room clearing and smarter AI.

mscbuck has a point. In MGS2, when Snake first fights Olga, she throws a knife at him and it slows down to bullet time as the knife travels past him as he dodges it.

So it's going to be a really crappy Metal Gear game, with a horrendously flawed storyline in spite of how much pseudophilosophical symbolism the director pulls out of his hiney?

Jon`C no actually its the original MGS with some enhancements.

And that video is awesome. I loved the Ninja vs Snake part, especially when Snake dodged the ceiling block the Ninja kicked, and landed on his back. It gave both a sense of "Im a bad mother" as he was leaping over it, and a "d'oh, even I make mistakes" as he landed on his back by mistake.

That looks so awesome. What's cool is that a friend and I have agreed to get the two games Twin Snakes and Snake Eater, and then spend a day playing them!

I seem to remember there was slow motion in MGS in various places, like when Vulcan Raven shoots Snake with the tank and he backflips or something. I was pretty peeved that he actually got shot in the trailer!

Yeah, I remember that bit too. It only happened a few times throughout the game, so it didn't feel like it was used just for the sake of it, instead of to make it look cool.

Anyway, I've got some Christmas money saved up just for Twin Snakes [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

Yeah, but it was only used once. Kind of like in the first Matrix where bullet time wasn't used that much compare to Reloaded.

Actually MGS2 was kind of like this towards the end with the whole Patriots thing. By the way, I found it funny that the Diamond Backs and Patriots won in the year MGS2 was released....

Is anyone else disappointed that Snake Eater is going to be a prequel? I mean, at the end of SOL we were left with not one but many cliffhanger twists, and they will almost certainly not be resolved in this installment!

The Last True Evil, how do we know? Remember, he said that the Patriots were dead for 2 centuries. Maybe Snake Eater has something to do with it? Not saying it takes place 2 centuries ago, but the story can still use it. Its MGS, ANYTHING is possible.

Could be a cut scene. When Snake stood still in the previous games, he never had the gun raised like that. Only time he raised it like that was to fire.

You do know most trailers and screenshots are camera angles that are never used. In that specific shot, Konami is trying to show off the incredible environment they've created in Snake Eater.

And yes, you can play Twin Snakes instead of MGS1, I would reccomend it

Correction, there's Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 on the Nintendo (no Snake's Revenge does not count!). Finally there was Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater all released for the PS2 and PC. Metal Gear Solid: Ghost Babel is also a side story for the Gameboy Color.

Pretty much, however do not believe that Snake can do Neo-esque moves like that. Snake is suppose to be kind of a believable mercenary James Bond in a way.
2004-01-21, 2:19 PM #37
Acauly, it was released on the NES and SNES as Metal Gear and Metal Gear two, Then Metal Gear Solid and then Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty.

I think there was like three or four games for the NES, but one of them is not officialy a part of the series because it was made without the creators involvment and the story made snake out to be some weird navy seal mercanary wack-job, while the other made him out to be the perfect soilder, no remorse for who he kills, just faces on the battlefield.

basicly, A guy forms a nation in Africa called Outer Heaven, And they have captured a scientist and used his genious to build a huge walking nuclear battle tanks capable of firing a nuke from anywhere on earth. FOX HOUND sends Gray Fox into Outer Heaven to bring it down, but he goes missing, So they send in Snake, a rookie FOX HOUND member, The leader of outer heaven turned out to be Big Boss, the leader of FOX HOUND, who engineered the whoel thing with the intention fo snake coming into the battle, but he expected Snake to fail, he did not. Snake found the scientist and use his info to destroy Metal Gear. Big Boss escaped and Gray fox was taken away, but regarless, Outer Heaven was taken down.

Metal Gear two starts off with big boss building a new place called Zanzibar Nation, and it turns out that Metal Gear was NOT destroyed and moved to this new location. Recently retired Snake is called to active duty by Col. Campbell and he again works to take down this armed milita. During the mission he discovers that Big Boss survived and is trying to breed a world of continued war where soilder like him acauly serve a purpose, a world full of war and conflict, during the final battles Snake is pitted against his old friend and presumed dead collegue, Gray Fox. Snake battles Fox and reluctantly kills him, destroyed metal gear for once and all and most important, Kills big boss and puts an end to his plans.

In Metal gear Solid, Snake is once again recalled to active duty to infiltrate a nuclear waste disposal site to A) rescue two hostages and B)find out if the terrorist are capable of firing a nuke. During the mission snake leans alot about outer heavan and his own origins, but I won't spoil the plot as it's a damn good game, but regardless, there is a new Metal Gear there, Metal Gear Rex, you wind up destroying it as well.

MEtal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Libery is really weird plot, but snake is now a member of an anti-metal gear program as the result of MGS had someone leaking the plans for Rex on the black market, this is spuring Any country with nuclear weapons program their own versions of Metal Gear, Snake and otacon (who he met int he previous game) go around gathering intel on the Metal Gears and destroying them is they can and need be.

The find out the Marines are making a Metal gear that can swim andwhere and make beach landings, it was suppose to be an anti metal gear metal gear and be able to be mass produced, snake is on a mission on the tanker to find on intel on it and is caught in a russian mercanay group takes of the tanker, the tanker is sunk by a group called the patriots and framed for it, so they engineer an elaborate cover up and say snake was killed when the tanker when down, now five years later, the oil spill was covered by a treatment plant as it's in the lower manhattan harbour, this plant is attacked and the president is taken hostage wheile on an inspection tour.

Raiden, A new meber of the newly re-formed FOX HOUND is sent into the plant to resuce the plant and uncover the conspiracy regarding the leader who goes by the name Solid Snake.

You raise an interesting point, but if plot developments occur in the prequel, it seems logical that Snake would already know these developments come MGS 2, making it a moot point anyway.
