Equilibrium.

The movie is set in a post-World War III era, where mankind agrees to take emotion-removing drugs in order to maintain its survival as a species. Certain men of this civilization, called Clerics, are trained from a young age to be the ultimate weapon against the "Resistance" - those who refuse to take the drug and horde those things that may tempt emotion back into civilization: such as art, literature, and music. Of course, the plot thickens like blood on cholesterol when one of the "Clerics" begins to feel...

Rent this movie. Or, at least watch the trailer.

I just saw this movie for the first time a few weeks ago. Very good movie, its like a combination of 1984, Fahrenheit 451, and the Matrix.

I thought it was pretty good. The only problem being that isn't anger an emotion? ( they shout at each other throughout the film in some points - can't remember exactly it was a while ago)

This was a great movie.

I don't think they ever shouted at each other, i can't remember any. Not those who were on the drugs anyway.

i enjoyed it, but a lot of the characters showed emotion.... such as anger as already highlighted, and many of them just show a general "passion" for that they are doing... but all in all its a good movie, and to be honest, the only similarities between the matrix and equilibrium i have seen is the fashion sense.

The katana fight scene is the best [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif] I also watched this a few months ago, in school.

I think it was intended for all of the characters to show some emotion... a bit of irony to show the absurdity of the whole idea of getting rid of emtions.

Equilibrium had some really cool ideas in it, but I thought far too many of them were poorly executed. Still, enteraining movie and definitely worth a rent.

I think it's interesting that all of the gunfights were done in one take - they didn't have the money to replace all of the squibs on the walls, etc.

Also, the part where they tear down the wall? Damn German construction. The contractors were ordered to make it easy to tear down, and they built it so well that it took them two-and-a-half hours to tear it down.

And I think we can all agree that Christian Bale kicks Keanu Reaves' *** any day. Christian should have been Neo.

That's a really fun movie to watch. I liked it a lot.

If you watch the director commentary, he mentions that it would be boring to watch completely emotionless, zombie-like actors for two hours, thus the characters' drugs don't eliminate emotion entirely yet rather just prevent major highs and lows.
