Ok. I just read in the locked "penguin beatdown" thread that only moderators and admins can delete posts/threads. Is that true?
Heh, that would explain why I couldn't get rid of my double-post in the editing forum. When was this debated? Please, I'm in the dark here.

There was a petition thread on it. Apparently the pro-stop-deletion guys won.

The link to the petition page is broken. I did a search and that was broken too. But I read the "The Official 'What's up with...' Thread." thread, and I got some info on the whole thing. Thanks for enlightening me, and I'm glad to see we can delete posts again.

To admins: if you are going to restrict this in any way, you should probably prevent deletion of threads that have posts in them (not including the original). If there is only the original, then let it be deleted. That's my 2 cnets to the issue

i agree, if its possible, deleting individual posts should be allowed, but deleting the first post to remove a whole thread should still be stopped.
