She stood at the edge of cliff, watching the lights of Embail, the very town where she had lived to the age of 13, where she had lived before Dark Wizard, Aq Lorka, had taken her away from her home, away from her beloved ones.
She felt a cold tear on her cheek. She wiped it away. She couldn't cry, just couldn't. If Aq Lorka would ever find out, he would turn her into a frog.
(So what), the voice in her head said. (It would be better to live as a frog than as what you are now.)
"No, that's not true", she whispered to the wind. "No matter what I am, I wouldn't trade my life to anything."
Well, that wasn't true, but she would never give that voice with inside her head pleasure of being right. Never.
She looked at Embail, looked at sea of light that it was in this dark, cold night, and almost started crying again. It had been so long since she had walked on it's streets, saying "Hello" or "Good morning" to people she knew. Ten years. TEN full years. She knew, that if she would now go to Embail, no one would recognize her. How could they. She had been a 13 years old girl when she had been taken away by Aq Lorka, and now she was 23 years old woman. How could they possibly recognize her?
"They can't, and that's supposed to make my job easier", she whispered to the wind. "Kill the mayor, Aq Lorka had said, stab him to the heart with your gold bladed dagger. Hah. What if it's someone I know? Can I live with the guilt?"
(Well, you must), the voice said. (But don't worry, it'll be easy. You've killed hundreds and you've never felt guilty.)
"Shut up", she said. "Shut up and leave me alone."
(No can do, sweety), the voice said. (I'm here to stay.)
"Unfortunately it seems so", she said.
(Well, if we are trough with this conversation go to the town and do your job. Go on, Tanya, you can do it. It's easy, trust me.)
"Well, I don't have any choice", Tanya said. She turned her head away from the distant town of Embail and started looking for the path that would take her away from this mountain to forest of Embail and finally to the town of Embail. She saw it soon, and started walking towards it.
