We were in the Cathedral of Ithaenc, having gone there on a quest to retrieve the Great Crystal, which would have brought us untold riches. But that clumsy fool Feorge had dropped the crystal, shattering it - releasing Baal'Zaeron.

Baal'Zaeron had been the scourge of the land for centuries untold millennia ago, a demon whose armies had ravaged the world. But a contigent of the world's mightiest mortals - wizards and warriors alike - had imprisoned him within the Crystal and sealed it within the Cathedral of Ithaenc - until now.

All sorts of monsters closed in around us, and we drew our swords, readied our spells, and prepared ourselves for what would probably be the last fight of our lives. . .
