Okay, so, Ford, you're allowing the StarCraft stuff?
Gandalf, assuming Ford is allowing the StarCraft stuff, you need to tell me what point in the StarCraft history this is taking place. Also remember that the Keeper of the Fragment is going to be far more powerful than Tassetos, because even though he only has a Fragment, it's a fragment of the, basically, ultimate knowledge and power that lies behind the Door.
Also, let's have this be a story where there was no Earth as we know it.
That said, let's get another story post going.
-----
Admiral Bajieb Sarkoln stood rigidly at his command post on the
Valiant.
"Sir!" the communications ensign called. "Dr. Raith has transmitted her sealed report up to us to be relayed to the Scientific Guild on Alpha!" Alpha was the home planet of the humans.
Sarkoln hesitated. He knew something of Raith's mission, to secure great knowledge that would surely lead to great power. He should read her report himself, instead of just blithely relaying it to the Scientific Guild. If it was important enough, he would send it to the Shogun on Alpha, high commander of the Intergalactic Federation military. . .
-----
Alpha. It was a world very similar to our Earth in terms of atmosphere and climate. It was also heavily protected by four of the new 100-mile-long
Leviathan-class battleships, which combined size with efficiency to create a ship of great reliability and power, unlike the older 55-mile-long Ultradragon destroyers, which relied on brute force alone and were unpopular with most military commanders.
Though the Intergalactic Federation was nominally a democracy, it was in actuality ruled by the Directorate, a military junta presided over by the Shogun. The top military leaders of the Federation had declared martial law with a majority vote in the Senate (elicited by bribery and force) and formed the Directorate in response to the terrorist attacks of the Kor'y'Zel Combine.
The Kor'y'Zel Combine was a shady organization operating both within and without Federation borders with a number of major players both human and Sado'Zel. The Sado'Zel were the Elders of Shadow, a race as ancient as humanity. All other races besides humanity had been created by the Sado'Zel in genetic experiments. All those races had psychic failsafe triggers built into them so that their "creators", as it were, could control them.
The Shogun was the founder and leader of the Combine. The other primary members of the Kor'y'Zel were the key managers of the Sado'Zel PsiEx Guild. PsiEx was the Psionic Extraction Guild, a corporation of the Sado'Zel empire that was devoted to extracting psychic (or psionic, as it was also called) force from every segment of the cosmos for the use of their empire.
The Shogun controlled the Combine, the Combine controlled the humans and the Sado'Zel, and the Sado'Zel controlled everything but humanity. So, in effect, the Shogun was the de facto ruler of the inhabited universe.
It was one day that the Shogun received a message from one Admiral Bajieb Sarkoln of the War Shrike Mark II
Valiant. Military officers had the authority to send transmissions they deemed of sufficient import directly to the Shogun's office, where his staff filtered through them to find the really important messages. The message was Sarkoln was one such.
Your Excellency the Shogun, the message read,
As you may be aware, I am attached to Dr. Jillion Raith of the Federation Scientific Guild for a project involving the search for the fabled Golesta. It seems that Dr. Raith has found proof that such a door exists in that a fragment of the Golesta's power is being kept by an elfin creature on the planet Orbius One in the ruined spaceport Jeslot. This fragment is actually enormous psychic power. I believe that this bears further scrutiny. Bajieb Sarkoln, Adm.
The Shogun considered the message for long moments. This could be of great importance to the Kor'y'Zel Combine. If the Golesta could be found, its power could be used to bring the universe under his complete control. He thought a moment longer, than transmitted orders to Sarkoln.
