Simple rules, each post can be about one or two sentences (to give you a wee bit of freedon). But each post must start with either "fortunately" or "unfortunately" such that if the previous post was unfortunate, your post will be fortunate and vice-versa.

The first post after mine will begin with "unfortunately".

Once upon a time there was a small reverse lemming called Tweakie and he lived happily at the bottom of a cliff in some random place, possibly Finland. Life was great for Tweakie, he could be as suicidal as he wanted but he was completely safe as he was already at the bottom of the cliff.

Unfortunately, one day an earthquake hit his town, and the cliff fell on them. Most of them perished.

Fortunately, this uncovered a diamond mine that would probably have never been discovered. There was a boom in the world economy.
