Hello, ladies and gentlemen. Or, ehm, gentlemen. Basically, what I was wondering is what motivates you to write IF? I know for sure that quite a number of you are very talented writers - why not make a collab. on a project that's going to have more or less of a distinctive structure, and that will, eventually, be COMPLETE?

After all, IMHO, it's only evolution. I'm not saying IF is bad - I'm just saying it's more of a game than an actual writing genre. But maybe, that's the whole point.

Anyways, what I've been doing lately is trying to adapt IF style of writing with only 1 co-writer, with the major details of the plot and the approximate SIZE of the piece in mind...

If you're interested, check out what we've come up with:

WARNING: language.

Anyways, I'd be more than glad to read your replies about the whole idea of IF, and, of course, the (completed and rather short) story thread I've posted the link to. I'd post it in Showcase but I doubt people there would be much interested.

Don't worry, be happy.

We've had at least two major projects like you've described in the past: The Vision Cycle and This Needs a Better Name. Both of the projects have been halted (which I feel is a great deal my own fault) but hopefully, both will be picked up again and be (dun dun duuun) COMPLETED. Perhaps even *gasp* PUBLISHED! There are certainly other stories that have had similar goals on this forum, and hopefully there will be more in the future (with the added bonus of being successful preferably ;) )

While stories like NeS certainly have a quality to them that is more akin to playing a game (or even developing one), I find the intereactive story-writing can have the potential to be an "actual writing genre" as you put it.

Glad to see you drop by, Koobie.

cool. i guess i just don't like things being too epic - i've got too short of an attention span. however, i might join the "The Change (The Second War)" thing, the original setting seems pretty cool.
