I had taken piano lessons for ~8 years, and a single heated lesson ended all of that when I stormed out and vowed never to learn from someone like that again.

I haven't sat down and played the piano except for mucking around with Canon (which was the only song I could still remember) now and then, but all that has changed now.

I downloaded some sheet music and just finished teaching myself Radiohead's "The Pyramid Song": Granted, it isn't much more than a few complex accidental chords and a tricky rhythm, but it's a start.

My fingers feel so awkward from how I remember them, that is, I lack my old dexterity, but in time, I'm sure it will come. I don't know why I'm so excited. :]

I took piano lessons about 8 years ago, and learned little. About 3 years ago or so, I tried to teach it to myself again, learning chords first, then doing what I could from there. No music-reading required. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

If you need help learning piano chords & scales, try this.

I usually do 5ths with my left hand, and the full chord (with the 3rd) with my right hand (assuming I'm doing only chords, with no alternate bass note).

I haven't had piano lessons since I was about 11. I just gave up, because I didn't have the time to practise, although I continued playing the trumpet, and took up the drums (without lessons) more recently.

However, I have played the piano once or twice recently, simply for the fun of it. I like trying to play some of Muse's stuff.

I taught myself to play, Now I can do grade 4 stuff, although I prefer easier stuff like Micheal Nymans "Piano"... The Entertainer...Moonlight Sonata etc.

With the possible exception of the Violin and Cello, Piano > * .

Never did piano lessons, but I had clarinet lessons for awhile!

I use to take piano lessons when I was really young... now I can still play a little, but mostly I suck. I want to get better...

I got up to Grade 5 then i quit. It was kind of boring, and i didn't have enough time to play - what with GCSEs. Now I'm teaching myself guitar - loads more fun!

I've never played the piano. Imagine how I would sound if you need a confidence boost
