Eyes met through the pouring rain, a solemn silent reverie.
Green and gray locked hand in hand, mere shadows of what was to be.
The crowd appeared to form the cage; the circle trapped what once was free,
For all had come to see today, the battle blamed on destiny.
Tall she stood, with eyes dark green, and hair a Phoenix-fire flame.
Conviction shown within her gaze, but something more… Regret and… shame?
And in his eyes so set on hers, the dark gray shade of tempest’s name,
She saw her own, reflected back, and started at the seeming same.
She slowly circled right then left, her blade in hand, and face sublime,
But footsteps falling heavily, throughout the silent sands of time.
Duck and weave and block and spin, one action then another’s mime;
A dance rehearsed so long ago, an age-old song, an age-old rhyme.
Though perfect were the motions met, her look belied the inner strain.
For whom she fought was enemy in side alone, the fight inane.
And when her arm was kissed by steel, her face betrayed no mortal pain,
But tears cascaded from the sky, and both were thankful for the rain
The falter lasted not a breath, when clash of blades rang out once more,
And both resumed their deadly dance, as all eyes watched them sweep the floor.
The lightless mist of evening rose, and through her ears the crowd did roar,
But silence echoed through her thoughts, with memories one can’t ignore.
Then while the tears of heaven fell as backup drumbeat from the sky,
To guide their dance so intricate, and sing a soothing lullaby,
The crowd held breaths or grinned and cheered, some betting on which one would die,
And suddenly with a flash of light, one fighter fell, without a cry.
Standing frozen, held by time, she finally took a breath again,
Staring down with shaky hand and shocked expression at the man.
Eternities of seconds passed, and minutes were a decade’s span.
She just stared down; about her feet, a thousand crimson rivers ran.
Kneeling then, she dropped the blade, and took his hand with haunted gaze.
She couldn’t speak; she didn’t move; she barely saw through scarlet haze.
She danced along an edge of sorts, her mind unsure and soul a maze,
As all around the teardrops poured and washed vermilion trails all ways.
His eyes met hers one final time, and then he smiled, true but thin.
And in his gaze she saw his life; it passed before her, touched within.
She ran her hand along his face with pensive look as dark set in.
"Fine move…" he whispered, fading now. "And how," she growled, "Is this a win?"
His lifeless hand dropped from her grasp; her world turned incarnadine.
Though in the center did she kneel, she watched from far; she’d drawn a line.
What separated them from her, she could not see, and not divine,
But she cared not; the blinding hate which seared across her ruled her mind.
She slowly stood, picked up her sword and swept the crowd with eyes of jade.
Her feral glare produced a pause, and through her lips a snarl played.
Then letting go priorities she’d falsely set on her crusade,
She held true to her memories, gave one last smirk, and raised the blade...

Note: the lyrics are going to be sung with Black Metal vocals. I don't care what you guys think about the Black Vocal work, it fits perfectly with the song.
