Strokes me.

So whats your thoughts on the strokes?

Personally, they're one of my favourite bands... and one of my favourite songs was taken off the american release of the CD ("New York City Cops" was considered slightly too offensive in the weeks following 9/11).

But on another note, the new album kicks more arse than an arse kicker with 20 legs... So how do you like em... and how popular are they in your homeland? In an interview I read that The Strokes did in the UK with one single, album and tour more than what they did in the US with 10 times the work... oh we do love em.

Thoughts?

I liked their older album quite a lot. Especially Hard to Explain and Last Nite. Both great songs.

But I haven't really taken a listen to their new one. I happen to like the single, though...some number thing, right?

I dunno about that CD, but the NY rock scene currently is really really bad. Take the Yeah Yeah Yeahs for example.

The Yeah Yeah Yeah's rule, so does Interpol. New York's always had a great music scene.

I haven't really heard much by The Strokes. I have their first album, but lost it.

Is This It is a really good album I still enjoy listening to now, but I dont think they went anywhere at all between there and Room On Fire. To me, Room On Fire sounds like songs that didnt make it onto Is This It, it's a lesser version of the same album (with the one exception of Reptilia, which is one of their best songs ever).

The music industry is a cruel and shallow money trench where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side.

Interpol is okay, but the Yeah Yeah Yeah's are just plain annoying. That song maps on the radio is horrid. If anything, NJ has a better music scene at the moment.

Is it the Yeah Yeah Yeahs who have that really annoying song with the one note played quickly over and over?

I agree. I like my bands to change it up a bit between albums.

The Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs are great live. I've not heard the radio single, but I've been told it's not very similar to the rest of their material.

Eh, I like this new sorta garage rock that's coming out, all these bands like the Strokes, The Vines, White Stripes, Jet,etc. It's a really refreshing sound amist all this punk/emo and hiphop crap that's going around

The Yeah Yeah Yeah's single is totally different from their other stuff. It doesn't have the heaviness of their usual stuff.

I've had that stupid Reptilia song stuck in my head all week. I really like the guitar, but the lead singer's voice is probably the worst I've ever heard. It reminds me of William Hung.
