This one's for anyone who writes music. Tell your top 3 influences, can include anything from P. Diddy to Django.

mine are:

-Jeff Buckley (guitar-style, vocal-style)
-Travis (really cool songs)
-Les Miserables, the musical haha (really cool melodies and changes)

Boom Desjardins and Dany Bédar have both influenced my singing greatly.

Mark Tremonti and Stéphane Dufour have been influences for my guitar work. Flea and Les Claypool are like gods to me when it comes to bass playing.

It'd be simpler if I didn't do all three [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

I actually try very hard to make sure that my songs dont sound too much like Jump, mainly because it's very possible that we might open for them pretty soon.

I don't know. It's alot more than any 3 I could pin down. Here's a few, though, in order of when I discovered them/they added to my influences

Sublime
Everclear
Korn
Limp Bizkit (only their first CD, the rest blow)
Fear Factory
Slipknot
Edgey
Aphex Twin
Square Pusher
Tech Itch
Concord Dawn

there's almost a sort of progression, if any of you know the last 5 groups it'd be a a nice transistion. That's just modern groups. It'd be useless for me to name every jazz/big band/orchestral musician that I idolized at one point or another.

hrm, I try to draw a lot of my lead guitar influence from Alexi Laiho's work, although I'm not nearly good enough to pull off all the mad sweeping runs he does, and when it comes to rythm, I have a very HEAVY Jon Schaffer influence (Iced Earth), along with quite a bit of Kalmah for melodic lines and whatnot.

"Musical Influences" as far as encouraging me to learn to play music, I guess I would probably attribute to:

Enya (lovely, soothing, reflective, as easy as "easy listening" gets... [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif])
Smashing Pumpkins (just "sublime" - there's something for everyone with their style)
John Williams ("StarWars!!!". Need I say anymore... [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif])

Bit of a mix, yes? [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif] [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]
