Irish music...
2004-05-30, 5:35 PM #1
This thread is for people that like traditional Irish music. I'm going to suggest a couple bands/albums and if you have any let me know. I dont really see this getting that many replies, but it might.

Mary Bergin, tin whistle
- best album Feadoga Stain
The Chieftains
- best album...I dont own any of their
albums, just some mp3s
Gaelic Storm
- best album... Gaelic Storm, although
Tree is quite good as well.

so there's 3 I listen to regularly, give me some new ones and I'll throw out some more I listen to.

Carbon Leaf is Celticish on a few songs. You can download their CDs from Amazon for FREE!

The only chieftains cd I has is called Irish Heartbeat. Does that help any? Anyway the Irish stuff I listen to isn't really traditional. It's more Irish/punk or Irish/rock.

The music industry is a cruel and shallow money trench where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side.

Friend of mine really loves The Pogues, most of their stuff is pretty amusing and decent.

Flexor, you jerk, you took mine.

I'm not seriously knowledgable in Irish folk. The stuff I have heard I'm not particularly fond of.
I remember the first day I was in Ireland I hadn't had more than four hours of sleep like the last three days before the flight, and then I didn't sleep at all on the plane, and when I was at a store that was playing some Irish music, I thought I was hearing a particular REM song because I was so delusional.

While not exactly traditional, Elvis Costello and Enya are both Irish.

Oh, and I have The Chieftains Bells of Dublin. I like it.
