looking for new amp...

I've just about had enough with the amp I currently have. I think it's still under warranty so I'm going to try to get it fixed, BUT when it just kind of goes out on you during a show and it's not really loud in the first place... argh.

So, this is what I'm looking at:

VOX AC-30 TBX - 30 watt class A amplifier with 2x12" VOX Blue Alnico speakers

Right now I have a VOX AD120VT with 2x60 watt speakers. Would the AC-30 put out less volume or more since it is all tube?

I love VOX amps, and I've already decided I'm either getting a VOX or an Orange.

Recommendations? Thoughts? I need something that can bust out some volume, but I can always mic it. Marshall stacks are out because I dont like em.

30 tube watts is going to be seem louder than the 2x60 watt solid state power section you have

tube amps have a tendency to be louder than you'd expect... even a 5 watt tube amp can get loud

plus an all tube amp will give you better tone than the digital/tube/solidstate hybrid you currently have especially when you put a mic in front of it and record something

How much are you looking to spend? If you're looking into an AC30 I guess a crystal clean sound is what you're looking for?

The Hughes and Kettner Tour Reverb sounds awesome, as does the Triamp MKII. These amps kick SERIOUS *** .

That's what I thought.

And the reason I'm going with VOX is because they have the exact sound I want without having to substitute (warm clean tones, but able to crunch like a bodybuilder with 'roid rage). Money is not an object here, although I'm going to be scraping it together to get an AC30. Now to decide between the handwired or the 6-reissue.
