I'm wondering if anyone here knows where I can get some free wav samples or VST's of various orchestral instruments. The problem with using just one sample for each instrument is that if I use it for higher pitched notes it sounds like totally compressed crap. You know what I mean.

I usually just find some random chords and string notes from various tunes and cut em out. Engineering it to loop correct isn't very difficult at all.

It actually works, too.

Orchestral Instrument VSTs for $400 aren't going to be very hoog quality. I think the best sounding ones are like $2500 or something.

What I really need are some high quality samples.

Well, what I really really really really really need is an actual realistic orchestra cymbal crash sound. (like the kind the london symphony orchestra uses for star wars music.)

And then I need several variations of a french horn, a trumpet, and some strings.
