Isn't the guy in Tool in this band? It's pretty good, and Go-Kart Records is an awesome label.

Yeah, Danny Carey is the drummer in that band (and Tool).

I went and saw PLC the last time they came through Milwaukee. Great show.

Yeah, they came here a couple weeks ago but I hadn't listened to anything of theirs at that time...

I know what you mean. Still, I might check it out sometime.
Afterall, just because the original guitarist for The Replacements is now in Guns'N'Roses, doesn't mean The Replacements don't rule.

I <3 Tool with all of my coal filled chest cavity.

I just seriously dislike Tool. I can't stop anyone else from liking them though, so *shrugs*.

And that's true, dry gear. Maybe I will check it out.

I'm downloading it now.

My Louis Armstrong quote was sort of a joke, for the record. I used to like Tool and would have had to ask "what's wrong with them?"

I didn't like it. It reminded me too much of Tool.

The music style was similar enough to me.

What's wrong with Tool?
Okay, you asked for it...

I think Tool is a band made up of snobbish wannabe intellectual jerks, making bloated pretentious music for kids who think listening to Tool makes them sophisticated and cool.

...and that's saying a lot coming from dry gear! :p

I don't think I'm 'cool' or 'sophisticated,' but Tool's music is certainly more sophisticated than 95% of other rock music. In my opinon.

Yeah, I suppose it is. :)

It's not meant to reflect on everyone who likes the band, just my experience with Tool fans both online and in real life.

Everyone I said about Tool could be said about Radiohead, and in fact a lot of people do say that about them. The only difference for me is that I like Radiohead anyway, even though a lot of their fans really are annoying.

Same, only I don't really think that either's that special. Then again, I'm into deeper stuff. Like really, really good Drum and Bass, Ska, and Explosions in the Sky (Yes, you should listen to them. They're amazing.)

I'm not as big a fan of Radiohead as most fans of theirs. I think they have some awesome songs though.

I think I should listen to Explosions in the Sky too. I just looked them up and they got really good reviews from places I trust.

I'm going to see them live on October 1st. I'm really excited about it. :)

Explosions In The Sky kick ***. Who else is playing with them, Wuss?

Some band called Zykos. I've never heard of them before.

SL:KGHL:SDHGOSDGHLK DIE!

I hear they're AMAZING live. I want to see them so bad. Just being in that atmosphere would be awesome. I mean how many people do you know that like them? And of those people, how many are cool? Yeah.

You know Explosions has a rep for being the loudest live band ever? I would seriously bring ear plugs or something to that show.

That's only Maynard, and I wouldn't call him a wannabe intellectual either.

That's the impression I get. I really dislike Maynard too.
Althought I do have an awesome mp3 of A Perfect Circle covering David Bowie's Ashes to Ashes live. He actually says beforehand "here's a little treat for y'all."
I'm puzzled because he almost sounded friendly there.

If you had ever seen an Maynard interview, you would know that he's actually a really cool and friendly guy.

I can't help but find that hard to believe.
He writes songs about how much he hates his fans, for one thing.

sounds fair enough to me, i'd hate my fans if i were that popular because of all the hassle they would give you.

i applaud slipknot, the masks will stop any of that happening when they mish about in real life.

as far as tool go, they have some good songs but i'm not a massive fan, their songs can get overblown and tedious after a while.

actually... i could say exactly the same about explosions in the sky.

I think he takes it too far.

I think Tool has decent pop songs, like The Grudge and Schism. I also kind of like Parabol/Parabola.

And Ticks and Leeches is a good song. I don't care what a song is about, if it sounds good, I'll listen to it.
